Yes, I understood this. I am expanding on it by saying that SB seemingly don't seem interested in edu versions or pirate copies on Ebay. Discuss

I'm a full time teacher, and need to purchase Cubase 5 in the near future. I was surprised to see that there is even an EE lic. for the "Essential" edition at Sweetwater for seventy five bucks or so.

I wouldn't say you shouldn't, but you shouldn't complain in the future if they eliminate the discounts for edu, or make you use a second dongle, or even have no upgrade discounts in the future, everyone pays the same full price because of abuses in the past, lol! All I know is that I get so po'd with people who abuse the system, and I end up paying more or have to use dongles and other higher security complicated crud, over something as petty as one persons reluctance to pay a few pennies more for something. So if you would be willing to brag in the future about how you saved a few pounds and created the mess in the first place be my guest, lol!!!

Go sign up for a class at a community college. Buy the EDU version. Prove you're in school. Drop the class. Sound good? |

Or maybe even TAKE the course and actually learn something ...You never know, could be fun (or at least useful!). But yes, this has been a well trodden route for many people in - you sign up a community college course for minimal outlay (what 50-90 bucks typically for one course) and then you get 40-50% off many software titles with the edu discount - meaning you can buy Cubase and Wavelab for almost the same price as Cubase at the ordinary retail price. |

I think the real abuse in the system is happening by the online academic/edu stores who stretch the definition to suit their own agenda by selling to anyone who simply claims to be a member of a church. School-aged children, parents, and churchgoers can save a ton of money... that's probably about 60-80% of the population... You can look at this as a tax on single adults who practice safe sex, or a backdoor policy to support the republican agenda on family values.
