"Locking Two PTLE Rigs Together"

Page 104, Tape Op #49

What do you guys think?

Looks like the idea is to clock both rigs via digital inputs.

The article mentions using a Rosetta 800 and a UA 2192 that are both clocked by a Lucid clock. Then the 002 gets clock input from the ADAT input (so far so good.) the second 002 (as you prob. guessed by now) is S/PDIF'd to the UA converters. So everything's clocking to the Lucid.

Should work, right?

Of course, you could probably get similar results by using something like Nuendo with a fast computer, huh?

For the hassle why not just get a Mix Core card and a 888 for under $2500.00 off ebay.
2 Mboxes and 2 computers will cost more

I have done it in the past and it does work. I havent read the article mentioned but there are many posts in the PT LE for windows forum on the DUC that will give a step by step guide on syncing 2 systems.

Basically Midi is used for the 'location' information and SPDF or ADAT optical for the sync.

I used a program called Midi Over LAN via my firewire network. Also if you send your master fader on your slave system into a stereo Aux in your master system, then you can bounce everything on the same system. You can also create very interesting send and returns between both systems.

I even used 'remote desktop' via my firewire network so that I didnt need to use another mouse, monitor etc for the second computer. I had many posts on the DUC describing how I did all this. Not sure if they would still be around. It has been a few years.

I figured that since I have an 002 and an MBox and a Rosetta 800, I'm most of the way there.
