I can rarely tell the difference between digital EQ's, but I am liking the Trident so far - the HP/LP filters are really nice. $249, though...yikes!!

The price is the usual affair. I'm actually thinking of dumping my current card & collection so I can just buy all the new EQ's. This one kills and 31102 & Harrison are just stellar. |

This new Trident EQ sounds really good thumbsup
I pulled it up and compared it to my outboard Daking A-Range EQ. As usual, I preferred the outboard... But the difference wasn't as great as I expected. This plugin is very well modelled. Definitely has the Trident vibe... Well done again UA!!!

Clarifying that UAD-1 statement, I think it just means the Trident is the last new plugin for UAD-1, all future plugins will be UAD-2 only.
I would figure you'd want a new card, with the bonus plugin bucks added, if you are buying new plugins anyway. But they will keep supporting UAD-1s too for your existing plugins.

I just hope they continue to support the old cards with the old plugins. I've got both a UAD-1 and a UAD-2 in the same computer.
It's only a little bit of extra power, but enough to run 1 Moog Filter, 33609, or Roland Space Echo.
The new plugins are wicked and require more power. The Fatso SR may be the best drum buss compressor I've heard ITB.
I can only imagine if that version existed in hardware.

I am wondering how many EQs UAD will bring to us. I think there a quite enough EQs out there.
What about a synth?

And yes, all the next ones will be UAD-2 only.

Yeah I was just thinking that all we needed was another digital synth. There's not enough of them out there.
I'd like to see them model tape, preamp/line circuits, tubes.

It would be nice to see something other than an EQ or a compressor modeled after something that's 40 years old. I do like all of their plugins, but I have enough of their EQ's and compressors to be happy.
Delays, distortion boxes, flangers, phasers and other FX should be their focal point.

+1 on modeling the things that give analog the "magic"!
Screw synths and screw more EQs (unless they bear an uncanny resemblance to the 550A)... model tape, preamp/line circuits, tubes, & mkII the original plug lineup.

Edit: Yes, aside from the Fatso which is very good

Does the FATSO uses tubes ?
As for tape, it's not really tweakable on that side.
MORE FLAVOUR would be welcome, right ?

The FATSO does tape saturation via its input control - more level = more saturation. It does tube harmonics and transformer harmonics and analog mojo. So that's 3 analog areas.
Yes, more variety would be welcomed, but the FATSO is a killer start. Plus it has 3 different compressors that can be use alone or combined. Lots of options.

So the UAD Fatso is emulating Fatso which is in turn a emulation of those things?
I have the UAD Fatso and i think it's great.

I really like how you find out about a UAD plugin and then days later its available. Just got a new UAD2 so I'm gonna give this baby a whirl.
