What do all the Slutz think of the PSP 84 & 42 Plugin's.
Do they really sound like the Lexicon.
I already have Echoboy and Echo farm.
The psp bundle is $150 so I think it is worth it.
What do you all think? |

I owned Nitro and decided to upgrade to the bundle, new 608 is a cpu hog but very worth it, other tasks are best suited by 84 / 42 they are cool as well.
very important that they support all formats so you can use them in PT as in logic or live or cubase....
definitely great value for the money I think |

the new price would be because they added an extra plugin, it looks pretty cool but i havnt tried it
apparently the PSP42 does not sound the same as the origional, mainly due to the crappy converts in the origional. but that aside the 42 and 84 are good sounding plugs if thats the sound the want and the MIDI clock sync is realy handy. personally i find the 84 a bit complex when you just want a simple delay but the 42 is easy to use and can be very effective, i still prefer a D2 but they arent quite the same animal |

Useful plugs. Don't know if they sound like Lexi.. but they add a good pallette for your sound. Play with the automation on feedback/filter settings, it will be more spectacular.

I love that plug, but I just stopped using it one day.
Now with the new SSL bundle I will prolly never use it again...

Multi-delay (the 608) is freaky cool.
I love PSP's plug-ins. They are well-worth the price.
Nitro, the 84, and the multi-delay are must haves.
I generally don't use the 42, but it is simpler.

I like the PSP delay plugins as well. They play like analog. The sound is good. There are plenty of free delay plugins out there too, tho. Why not download the demos and compare? If there's a substantial difference, surely it's worth spending $150?

They'll always work some kind of upgrade path from "I have this bunch of PSP stuff" to "I'd like to buy this, this and this", or so it seems. They're good like that.
they'll make you a deal on everything they make as a bundle

Since none of the PSP plugins are TDM, the only way to use them with a Logic/PT-combo is on the native side. |

I downloaded the demos and loved them, I'll go for a bundle asap.
Regarding the 42, the plug is imo cleaner than the original (not a big surprise...), but really sounds terrific. I demoed a real pcm42 I wanted to buy before testing its plug-in counterpart, and admit that the very decent 800 bucks the guy was asking for it seemed ridiculously high after I tested the 400$ Bundle....
It's also easier to make the psp42 dirtier than making a lex pcm42 cleaner.
The choice is yours!

I agree with Tom VDH on the hardware vs software deal. I had the hardware version on loan for about a year, and bought the plugin when it was going back home. When I had them both, I just ended up using the plugin.
The guy offered to sell it to me for $450. I guess I shoulda bought it.

The PSP delays (all of them) are beauties, imho.
Try the E-Phonic RetroDelay. IMHO it's the best - and it's donationware. |

Wow this post came back from the dead.
I got those plugins free from the guys at AES.
He gave me the PSP EffectsPack
(Lexicon PSP42 + PSP84 + PSP Nitro + PSP 608 MD)
Yeah I agree with the fact that the 42 sounds better
than the hardware they seem to get real gritty with age.
I use to love my old 42 but sold it and got a tc 6000.
These plugins are great no doubt.
Thanx all slutz for the feedback. |

How is the CPU usage on these? Comparable to waves supertap or other delay plug-ins? Just asking cuz the other two PSP plugs I have (VW and Mastercomp) I love but are CPU heavy, the mastercomp especially.
Also anyone care to compare the quality of the delay plugs to the waves supertap?

CPU usage depends on how you are using the delay (for example, if you have a reverb option enabled). I could not compare to Supertap, but the 42 and 84 use a little less CPU than Vintage Warmer. The 608 Multi-delay can be as intensive as some reverbs if you have a number of delays engaged.
They don't come near to MasterComp on FAT. I love that compressor but have not yet purchased it. How do you like it?
