RME AEB 4-O Conversion Quality

I'm interested in hearing comments regarding the quality of D/A conversion that the RME AEB 4-O expansion board offers. How does the conversion compare to Apogee conversion? Is it better or worse than Rosetta 800 or 200? Is it a lot better or worse than Rosetta?

Bump!

BTW, this is the expansion board that works with the Hammerfall DSP series. It provides digital to analog conversion.

Tho I haven't heard this expansion board, it's fairly certain to say that the RME won't sound as good as the Rosetta's. In general, I like RME's convertion (Fireface owner) tho, can't beat it for the money. Upper midclass imo.
The expansion board is internal in computer tho, could have interference problems, however Lynx showed the world it's possible to make good convertors inside the computer...
The things you wanna compare are of a very different kind

Thanks for the reply. With the price differential, I suspected that the conversion wouldn't be quite as good as Apogee's conversion. Because I own a Rosetta 800 clocked to a Big Ben, I was hoping to gain a frame of reference for what the RME stuff sounds like.

I started this thread because I need to put together a new rig comprising of a DAW and an analog mixer for OTB mixing. With one of these cards clocked to my Big Ben, I was hoping to attain an additional 4 channels of cost effective D/A conversion. Of course, these four channels would handle lower priority tracks. Based on your comments, it generally sounds as if the expansion board may meet my needs for this new rig.

However, you bring up an interesting point regarding interference due to the card being located inside the computer. I wonder if anyone can comment on this.

Thanks
