OK, it sounds like a bug. Write us at mixbus@harrisonconsoles if you have time to help us figure out what's wrong, and maybe try some fixes.

Any control surfaces work with this?

It would be amazing to see Harrison pick up some of the protools controller that will be dropped in the future.

Be aware that Mixbus will not work on lion, because it uses the PPC PACE installer.

They will have to wait for the Ardour people, and the last time I checked their development machine was On Tiger, and they were THINKING about upgrading to Leopard.

All of my PACE related apps worked on my Lion update install, except Ardour.

I installed lion on an external drive for testing, I'm staying put on 10.68 until there is a compelling reason to change.

@gdoubleyou:

Mixbus and Ardour both work on Lion.

Neither Mixbus nor Ardour use anything by PACE. It sounds like you have a plugin that is missing a license key or something, and is preventing them from launching.

Best Regards

Does MixBus sync midi?
ReWire?
Can it import midi tracks.
Is this basically a digital tape recorder or can it function as a full DAW with Audio+midi tracks?

Hmm, saving the best for last, maybe? ( just kidding ! )

When we launched Mixbus, we knew that we wanted it to be a fully cross-platform app, but we had to start on the platforms where we had the most experience. 2 years ago, our console development chops simply didn't extend into Windows. We are also working with the open-source developers at Ardour.org, and they weren't yet developing for Windows either. So the Windows version took longer than the others.

The good news is that, now that we have all 3 platforms working, we can return to serious development of the mixer, a series of plugins, and other goodies that have been waiting in the wings while we finish the Windows version. There's a lot coming around the corner!

Hope this clears it up!

Windows Mixbus discussion

P.S. There is an "official" announcement which might be a better place to discuss Windows, since this thread is titled "for OSX" :

Thanx Ben for all the informations and very happy that we (win users) can get our hands on #mixbus and give it a try. Although I might be honest with you that limitation being a "noise" appearing from time to time is seriously annoying. I never like these kind of Demo Limitations, find it a bit useless especially if you want to let user to give it a REAL TRY, the "noise" thing to my opinion ain't that welcome. Just looking at other DAW devs, when you go download example PT or Studio One or Cubase etc.. you don't get a noise in the DEMO. But I do respect your decision but don't find the best.

Now on a developement side, from what I heard from friends who have bought #Mixbus (they are not using it simply), what i'm hearing from many is that they hope that you guys will mostly FOCUSED on developing and bringing more Features in the Editing side instead of thinking of bringing new extras like "plugins etc.."

In other word, many have tried Mixbus, they love it especially because of the Harrison Mix sound tape that you guys developed to bring that Harrison sound in but aside that, what i hear most is that Harrison doesn't HAVE the FULL featured Features that you find in other contenders DAW when it comes to Comping, Full audio editing etc... etc..

You got what I'm trying to say here.

Other then that for sure I will be giving Mixbus a try although I am hesitating because of the annoying "noise" limitation.

Thank you again for All Harrison Dev for making this available for now all 3 platforms.

P.S Are you guys planning to port the Harrison Console as a VST that can be loaded inside another DAW? Curious

Can someone please clarifie, if Mixbus has some sort of superior way of summing channels together or if it just adds analogeness, colour, harmonics etc.? And hence emulating the behavior of a analoge console.

@musicgreator: Other than the (user-selectable) filter, compressor, eq, saturation, and limiter, Mixbus doesn't "futz" with your signal. We aren't trying to make your stuff sound weird; Mixbus uses the same techniques that we use in our big mixers to make them sound good. Those techniques include dither stages, parameter ramping, bus structure, and performing multiple operations in as few stages as possible, among other things. I hope that makes sense!

What's the best interface I can get that's supported on Linux. I have a Saffire Pro 40, does that work on Linux? What would you say is the best USB interface for Linux?

Mixbus sounds awesome but i need full latency compensation also in the mixbusses. The channels are fully compensated but mixbusses are limited to 8192 samples. I would like to know if this fix might be on the to-do list?

Best of all, the introductory price is only $79.99!

Remember this from page ONE of this thread?

I saw Linux version and then when I went to look, the "special introductory offer" is double what it was.

Hm.

Hello Ben,

Is it possible to explain ''those techniques include dither stages''? I'm interested to know where they are applied and under which circumstances?

Thanks!

The most recent introductory offer was for Mixbus 2 on Windows, with a license being good for all three platforms. Basically, a sale price for all the platforms in honor of the introduction of Mixbus 2 on Windows.

The original price was for Mixbus 1, and it is a different beast from Mixbus 2. The version upgrade is significant, and thus it costs more.

I bought it for OS X before I even owned a Mac...... and now I tend to use OS X rather than Linux for audio.... and I bought the upgrade to version 2 from version 1 as well, and the difference in the UI was great.

(I'm not a Harrison employee, just a satisfied Mixbus user.)

So do any pitch correction plugins work in mixbus. I've tried melodyne and waves tune with no success.
