At the very back page of this months eq, there's an add that reads just like that.
Anyone know EXACTLY what that means. I would assume it protools 7.0, but the picture makes it look like we might be expecting new hardware of some sort.
anyone?

I agree.
Version 7.0
But the picture does suggest something in the way of hardware doesn't it?

I really hope for audio intrument tracks and a freeze option. I would really like to see digi step up to the plate with the whole midi thing as well.

Maybe LE will FINALLY have delay compensation.
Funny thing is:
They will praise it again like THE NEW THING, as if they invented it and were the first ones out there to have it!!

The Monday after NAMM, last January, I was in line at United (John Wayne) and spoke with someone (to remain anonymous) who said everyone was talking about a new HD system on the way. It would have major video enhancements. He called it an HD III. If it is true, I just hope it is compatible with current HD hardware.

The truth is that we are always the LAST ones to get the most needed and wanted features.
And if we ever do get PDC in LE, then I am almost certain that it will be a very crippled and utter useless version like Beat Detective in LE.

I really cant see the problem. PT LE has the ability to display the amount of Delay Compensation. How difficult can it be to insert that amount as a delay then. Those guys must be either lazy, Stupid or they really believe that we all upgrade to HD just because of that feature. I'd rather change to another software. Quote: |

If you cant afford that, well, then theres always the groundbreaking new

Can someone please post the ad?
I just went down to the local GC and no such ad was in Sept's issue of EQ.
The only digi ad was on pg. 26 (or 29) ICON.
???

LE is just there so you can get into the program deep enough that when you realize its shortcomings, you will upgrade, because you now know the software so well that you don't want to switch.
Those are just some of the reasons I don't use PT. They only care about money, not appealing to their customers. Don't get me wrong, I like the software, but you have to spend a bundle of money on their hardware to even open the software. That = Not cool.
Every DAW has it's shortcomings, but the above is just a well executed plan to force you to upgrade to what they really want to sell you. This better not turn into a Logic vs PT flame war now.

I myself just nudge tracks if needed. PDC just makes things more 'convenient' But not a necessaty in my opinion.
It will be interesting to see what they do on the LE side of things after a certain "plugin" swept thru the LE community like wildefire which added most TDM functions and put a new life into the 001 from what I was told.

Fair enough, it's just that I'm about to dive into the PT pool and I'm dying for some last minute info before I sign the check. Guess I'll just have to wait a few more weeks like everyone else to find out. |

Shane | FDunny, I like to know that my SFX and Dialogue are in synch, no matter what Plug-in I use.
Same goes for whatever music track I'm working on.
I like my VST instruments and Audio tracks to be where they were recorded, withotu having to think about it.
Kinda takes away from the flow, IMO.

It could possibly be an on/off (power) button.

I've managed to side-step and wind my way through the jungle of upgrades very carefully, and thankfully have never been burned. Actually, since I started with a Session rig and chose my updates when the upgrade offers were at their best along with buying used interfaces, I've got a rather large PT rig for less than some people have spent on native rigs. If you're not always on the bleeding edge you don't have to spend a ton of money.

Well, all I can say is if there is new hardware involved, if the feature set improvements are as minimal as what they did with the MBox2, I'll be very content to just stay with my current HD setup.
