DDMF NYCompressor update

Dear user,

it's time for an update of NYCompressor! On the bug side, there were issues
with the filter section losing the chosen filter type after some time.
Also, under Logic the sidechain channels are now properly recognized.
In addition, there's now the option to have a soft knee response, which
adds flexibility in terms of how the compressor reacts. There's an extra
button on the
GUI to switch on this option.

I'm liking it! metering seems accurate now. filter section is solid.

The new version seems not to be backward compatible, but I've only tested it on a mono channel briefly so far. I've kept the old Components, and am glad I did.

It's a great compressor, and the soft knee seems to sound distinctively different. Great!

Christian, it would be good to have version numbers in the names of the dmg files.
And in the EQs, the frequency graph is still not in accordance with the numbers below (the 10k line is around 8k etc.). Apart from that they are great EQs, and the GUI is very functional.

It should be backwards compatible... have you checked it further? Haven't had any complaints from other users...

Also, sorry about the frequency scale thing... it only affected LP10 in the last two or so versions due to a stupid GUI mistake. An update will be released before the end of the week. Also, the analyzer for the IIEQPro is ready, so stay tuned!

Sorry then for the post and any statements that were too general! I opened one project, and Logic 8 said "ddmf Mono NYCompressor not available" or something, and I couldn't open the NYC on that mono channel.

Good to hear that the GUI of the LP10 will be updated! This made me aware of how much I rely on frequency graphs in EQs!

While we're discussing updates (sorry I know this is a little off topic), any chance of having the ability to type numbers into the fields (frequency, Q, gain, etc...) in Cubase? For some reason this doesn't work.

Love the EQs otherwise!

EDIT: Thanks very much on the update that fixes this in IIEQPro! The analyzer is a nice addition too. Very satisfied customer right here.

Aah, that's indeed true... besides being an annoying bug in new projects, it indeed also breaks backwards compatibility. One more reason to sort this out asap.

And yes, the issues with typing in values on some hosts... in principle it's the host's fault but ok, it seems like they're not gonna change this so I'll have to resort to the dirty hacking trick I've always wanted to avoid

I checked it out today...and bought it immediately! Such a creamy sound, amazing!
This thing works so well on drums, gives a polished shine and glues everything so nice! Brilliant work, Christian! There are other comp plugins sold ten times the price of NYcomp that don´t come close to the quality of this plugin!

I agree. This compressor is really fun and sounds very good. I wish Christian would work out this ultra fast metering behaviour.
IMO it moves MUCH too fast which is a bit irritating.

Besides that, it def. one of my favorites!!!

Received right now the update (version 2.1)

email says:
"an issue regarding possible hang-ups in Wavelab has been fixed, and, most importantly, a 64 bit version for the Mac platform is now available".

Well, the updates does not affect me directly, but I tried it (on Reaper) and noticed the Gain Reduction behaves different from the 2.0 ("freezes" in the max point of GR). Shouldn´t I tried it on Reaper?

Anyway, thanks for the (always excellent) support, Christian!

Tried the demo and bought it. Great sound on vocals and drums, I just made it behave like a de esser using the filters and it works great, very good compressor ...

I too would like to be able to type in numbers instead of dragging the mouse, it can get tiring with lots of tracks ... and the metering could use some improvement too, also when I click the knobs and tweak the usual keyboard commands like command+w to close the window stop working, strange ...

Found more bugs ... when you use the sidechain and touch a button the sidechain disengages itself, very annoying

BUG FROM HELL Report : in some cases when you stop, return to zero and press play again the compressor introduces some loud clicks and pops, also when the soft kneee button is engaged it distorts really loud, it doesn't happen all the time but when it happens be very afraid, anyone else having these problems ?

The bugs are still there ... I'm using DP and OSX 10.7.3, after hours of testing I've found similar bugs in other plug ins like the fabfilter saturn ... the one that really annoys me is the soft knee button bug, hope Christian adresses those bugs soon, other than that this compressor sounds very good ...

Thanks Mario for the feedback !
Have you sent an e-mail to Christian ?

Yes : concerning the sound, I really appreciate it : I demoed it on various individual tracks and it brings a very nice sustain (very clean keeping all the frequencies), and with the 2 channel mode, with slighty distinct settings, we can have a nice stereo/ 3d effect !

That's gonna be hard to track down, since it only happens sometimes, and sometimes also with other plugs. Mario, are you sure the culprit is not something else in your setup? Haven't heard about this one from anybody else, that's why I'm asking...

I've read some users are having similar loud pops using logic too (with AU plugins), after lots of reading some ppl are blaming OSX 10.7 which is what I'm using right now, i need to do some testing in my other mac which has 10.4 and has been super stable with my setup, if you'd like me to run some tests to find what's up I'm happy to help ...

The strange thing is I have the 6144 eq, the IIEQ and the no limits limiter and I haven't had any problems so far, only a few display gliches.
