| system upgrade - Velocity Raptor as a system drive? Hi everyone, I am about to stuff my mac with more RAM and a new system drive (the old one crashed, Time Machine is a blessing!). Most of my sessions are large orchestral arrangements using almost only sampler instruments and lots of soft synths. Are there any benefits in having a Raptor as a system drive for the performance of Logic? Your insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tobias |

| I am using 2 x OCZ 250GB Vertex drives in raid 0 mode for my system drive. It flies boot time about 30-35 seconds on my Mac Pro. Apps launch at least 2X faster. |

| There's no question that SSD's are great but if I had 250 gig SSD's I'd be stuffing all my sound libraries on them for the read and access times; since I'd be reading 99% of the time, I could benefit from lightening disc access and long life. I just can't justify paying that much for them for now (I need 600+ gigs...), but I'm eager to go on this.
