SAFFIRE PRO40 - bypassing preamps?

Hello!

I was wondering if it is possible to bypass the PreAmps in a Focusrite Saffire Pro40.

Is the TRS input going through the preamp? or is it going to the converters? (the "gain" knob does affect the level, but maybe is just an attenuator)

Thanks !

Inputs 1 and 2 of Saffire Pro are featured with a -9dB attenuator pad, switching this on can simulate bypassing the pre-amp. Or you can look into using ADAT which provides additional inputs to the Saffire pro and not passing into the pre-amp circuitry. Not sure about this, maybe you can ask the Saffire pro40 support.

The line-in's do NOT go through the mic pre's, rather a seperate line level pre. The front panel attenuators range from -10 dB to +33 dB.

TRS jack input pads the level down to accept line level. It's not a dedicated jack so it goes thru the same circuit. Just turn it down all the way.

• Automatic switching of Mic / Line (e.g. inserting a jack switches from Mic to either Line or Instrument)

The "transparent" preamps is what I like about my Saffire Pro 40. What you input is what gets recorded, no "coloring" of the signal. I wouldn't think bypassing the preamps would be needed in this unit.
