Logic Pro 7, 8 & 9 on the same machine

Hi there,

I wanted to use Logic 7 on my MacPro so I can open old Logic 4 sessions, and then use those sessions to be opend in 8 or 9.

Now as Iw as installing Logic Pro 7, Logic Pro 8 dissapeard from my aplication folder !!!
Logic Pro 9 is still there, but 8 is gone !!!

I don't want to install 8 again because I'm afraid 9 will dissapear too !

Does enyone have experience or a suggestion for me?

Kind regards,

G-Lay

make sure you rename each logic version (i.e. LogicPro7, LogicPro8) accordingly befor you install the next higher version...Logic9 could stay at LogicPro of course as sw. updates expect exactly this name ...

install them in chronological order, 7, 8, 9.
Actually you can just install 7 and 9 and you'll be fine. When 9 installs it automatically renames 7 so to not overwrite anything.

I don“t know what went wrong for you but the Logic 9 installer renames the older apps automatically. No problems having them all at the same time.

on a similar topic...I need to have 8 & 9 on the same machine and I'm about to install them in order starting from 8. What should I do with the Jam Packs and Loops? Install them all from both 8 and 9 or install 8 just the program then 9 with all the discs?

thanks

You don't need Logic 8. You just need Logic 7 to open older version projects and Logic 9 will open Logic 7 and 8 projects. Logic 9 has all the Apple Loops and samples from version 8. Just remember to select legacy content during install.
