Maybe in 9.0.1 but 9.0.0 will not differ in performance compared to 8.0.2.
Can“t we change the threadname to ... Logic 8/ 9

I'm running Logic 8 on a MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo and am about to take the Snow Leopard plunge.

Will report back on the results.

Wish me luck...

Upgrade went smoothly and have had no problems with Logic 8 thus far. I think it might even using process cores more wisely, but that could just be my enthusiasm...

No major problems here either.

I'm running on a MacBook Pro, 2.5.

Running Logic 8.0.2, after everything ran fine, except a few legacy plugins.

Problem now is all the other software that either is not SL ready, or will have to be paid for to upgrade. This could turn a $29 upgrade into a $1000 upgrade.

Happy to know we're still able to operate Logic 8 with Snow Leopard. Does anyone know the cost to Upgrade to logic 9? I just graduated from recording school, so I actually think I only have the academic version of Logic Pro 8. In this case, to upgrade I would actually need to purchase the $499 version of Logic, correct?

I took the chance and upgraded my Macbook Pro 2.4 to Snow Leopard as mine is one of the ones that had heat problems caused by 10.5.7. Snow Leopard seems to have solved the heat issues and all of my important programs seem to be unaffected. (Logic 8, Final Cut, Photoshop CS3, etc.)

Nonetheless, I am going to wait a while before upgrading my Mac Pro. If it ain't broke...

So, I'm sure this is a dumb question, but Logic Studio 9 works on Snow Leopard, right?

I did the upgrade on a first gen MBP running Logic 8.0.2. I noticed right away that my computer gained a lot more spank in snow leopard over leopard. The goods outway the bads for me. I do have a couple of problems. With Logic 8, I have to close my project window, and then quit Logic. If I quit Logic without closing the window, then I have to open the activity monitor to force quit Logic. The other issue, no stillwell plugs in SL yet. I am picking up a UAD2 card today, so hopefully that will be nice and smooth to install. Otherwise its been smooth sailing and worth the little issues here and there.

Does Logic studio 9 work at all? Kidding. Yes, Logic 9 works in SL.

I ran into some problems here on a mac pro 8core, apart from the stillwell plugs which u can force to work in the au manager, just double clicking the flag boxes, also with the arts acoustic reverb, it works but once you put it up u cant remove it or logic crashes and also with kontakt3, works perfect but when u quit logic it says kontakt quit unexpectly...
Oh and most of all, but on this I'm not sure merging audio clips doesn't seem to be always possible... it worked on some tracks and not on others...

oh forgot on logic express 8..

A few issues have been noted. The "does Logic 9 work at all" comment was all in good fun.

which is better- logic 9 on leopard, or logic 8 on SL?

So, I want to upgrade, but I have many plugins... Are people here saying that merely installing SL, even if I keep Logic 8, will cause some of my plugins to no longer work?

If so, then it's not worth the upgrade for me...

Also, is the same true the other way around? If I install logic 9 on my current leopard system, will plugins still not be compatible?

even if they are compatible, I *really* don't want to reinstall plugins, etc... it's such a pain in the a**, and time better spent producing...

Hi Guys, I have Snow Leopard on a mac pro 1.1 with Logic 8. So far, I have 2 problems, not too annoying, but not cool.

The first one is when I open Logic, it didn't show my more recent projects in the menu, and Logic is setup to open my more recent project, and now the only thing that he's doing is opening the New project dialog...

The second one is really weird. UI bug, and I just don't know why...I have attached a screenshot of the problem.

If you know what's wrong, just let me know. These two things apart, it runs perfectly.

I can't see why the plugins will no longer work under LP9. They are audio units, and LP9 like LP8 is AU compatible.

SL is a new OS, this is completely different. You can find bugs in funny ways like the one I have just posted... LP8 is not "made for" SL. This is the difference.

I'm about to upgrade to Snow Leopard from Tiger (10.4.11) ... because I'm getting Maschine, which requires it ...

This thread has allieviated my fear about Logic 8 upgrades ...

... except ... I used Logic Express 8 ... I would think there wouldn't be any difference ...

Can anybody confirm that Logic Express 8 works under SL, too ... ???
