What is everyone's favorite reverb plugin?

I'm sure there are different ones for different uses. I'm not totally clear what the difference is between convolution reverb and digital reverb.

I've had good luck with Space Designer, recently got the CSR bundle at a cheap discount and my favorite reverb of all are the weird reverse ones. GR3 has a decent one and the one that came with CSR is probably the one I'll play with most.

Space Designer seems to be one of the better plugins that comes with Logic.

What are your opinions?

I use Space Designer with the Bricasti impulses and presets. I didn't care for a lot of the stock Logic Studio presets but there are some real gems in the freebee M7 Bricasti downloads....YMMV.

Are you talking about the preset_sheet.pdf on bricasti.com?

Since I got Cubase 5 it's been Reverence all the way. Great impulses included too!

Love the UAD Plate 140 on vocals. Haven't tried the EMT yet - too afraid I'll be tempted to buy it :-)

Cubase 5 REVerence + Bricasti M7 impulses also sounds good on lotsa stuff.

Redline Reverb!!! Adds as much or little ambience as I want with a minimum of mud (yet it's still nice and warm). By one of the Altiverb programmers, I think.

I've used IR Verb (nice if you don't need to tweak it, but like a lot of convolutions, a little inflexible and not quite right with larger rooms, but better than TL Space, which often seems best on more extreme weird sounds than on duplicating a room sound), Masterverb, Breverb, Digi's verb as well. I prefer Redline to all of them.

I hate to mention the latest and probably the trendiest. But as soon as I used the UAD EMT250 plugin, I knew it was the one for me. Before that, it was the Plate 140. I also have a (hardware) Lexicon 480L which I use sometimes on the snare. But the EMT goes on vocals, kick, guitar etc.

I may get laughed off of GS for this, but I'll play: two of my favorite verbs happen to be free or VERY affordable:

Apple's "Matrix Reverb" (included in OSX), and Magnus Jonsson's "Ambience" (donationware) - Magnus' plugins

They both do things I've never heard anywhere else, and can sound absolutely stunning when tweaked. Matrix Reverb does a room simulation that I find unbeatable for adding realistic "air" around certain things (Leslie cabinets, drums & perc) as well as really good long verbs for pianos, vocals, etc.

Ambience is also capable of really good results. Both of these verbs have beat out the big guns for me on MANY occasions, and I've got 'em all. In fact, on several score projects these two have gotten me REALLY close to that elusive Abbey Road Studio One sound on orch tracks - when the budget doesn't allow for the real thing of course ;-) They're now both staples in my scoring template.

Space Designer can be great too, but like most convolution verbs, it's a matter of what you feed it...

Breverb is nice. Acousticas' IRs are great, but they're still IR verbs. VSS3 is cool for the clean stuff.

X-Verb has really impressed me. It's brand new and lovely. t may not be fair to call it a plugin since it requires hardware (an SSL Duende), but don't they all...

I also think AIR's free reverb (with PT8) sounds nice. I doubt I'd ever put it on a lead instrument, but it's cool.

Just waiting for Massey to put out a reverb. Come one Steve!

UAD Plate 140
IK CSR (needed some tweaking, though and there are 100's of dials...)

I'de also be thrilled to see him come out with a standard console style EQ.

For now, my favorite is TL Space + Bricasti impulses. I did get that $5 (maybe it was $10) Breverb version a few weeks ago and haven't messed with it too much. Maybe it's time.
