Do a search. There is quite a bit about this unit on GS now. I love mine for live classical multitrack work.

A superb overall machine imho.
There is so much flexibility under the hood, that a lot of ppl don't realize in the first place.Sweet sounding as well.
Definitely a sleeper and maybe a victim of the Fireface clan!
Cheers

Yes they do. But they always worked for me. I have always run a really stripped down lappy, no nics, no bluetooth, no extra services.
Now they seem to be very stable on a standard install. I am recording a 3 day classical music festival (9 concerts) with the SK48 this weekend using the full release of W7 Pro.

Got my Konnekt 48 recently and agree the new drivers are super stable. It's a great all round device.
The only hassle for me is when running the Poco FireWire with it even on separate Firewire ports on my Mac Pro Quad I can't use the Fabrik plugs. They seem very buggy.

I use mine standalone through a Digi 002 so I don't really take advantage of all the features as much as I could. But with the SK48 as master, I get much clearer sound as the conversion and clocking is far superior to the digi. A big surprise for me was the preamps. They're better than any other interface preamps that I've tried within that price range IMO. I've been pretty impressed with the unit and my recordings have never sounded better.

I just got my SK48 about 2 weeks ago to replace a Mackie 1200F (not by choice but because Mackie couldn't get me a replacement 1200F. They tried but I think they won't be in production anymore. But they did the next best thing).
I had a hard time finding something that came close to the features of the 1200F. Fortunately, the SK48 came close and meets all my needs. I was strongly considering the RME fireface 800 because no one has a bad thing to say about in but 10 analogue ins was just not enough for what I needed. But now that people seem to be happy with the drivers on the SK48, I decided to take a chance.
So far the SK48 seems to work fine and the remote is a nice feature. I'm happy with it though I have not put it through any stress tests yet.
One thing I noticed about TC Electronics compared to Mackie is they seem to be more engaged with their users about driver updates on their user forums. Mackie is usually fairly silent. I should say however that I've never had an issue with the 1200F driver in WIN-XP. Most of the complaints came from people waiting for updates for Vista and newer mac OS. While I currently use XP, I wasn't very confident Mackie would ever provide driver and firmware updates for future operating systems or just new features.
On a separate subject, I can't seem to register on TC Electronics' forum. The registration seems to work but I never get the Password email sent to me (I checked my spam folder).

Replaced my RME Fireface 800 with (2) TC Konnekt 48's and haven't looked back. I hated the RME mixer from day one. Totally confusing, hard to read, and the actual hardware interface has the worst metering of any interface. Three leds is not enough to guage levels.... The sound quality of the 48's is right on par with the Fireface, plus I have the remote option which is very nice. Also, the Fabrik plugins are awesome, and the one plugin that doesn't get a lot of attention is the Integrator plugin. Sample accurate output and input of your external hardware, with level control going out and coming back in. Best feature of the box! Route your drums through an API 2500 and have them come back in sample accurate, are you kidding!@!$@! Freaking awesome, and totally simple. At the prices these are going for now, they are a steal. They were a victim of their initially bad drivers, but with rock solid drivers (no problems on my end), these are a total bargain.

Finally ordered one!
I've went back and forth so many times I'm getting dizzy.
Saffire 56 reads good.
Then I wanted to do a RME9652 with a mico for input and a DAC1 for output.
Then I thought I can just add a DAC1 or a mini-dac to my 1820m.
Then I saw the TC BMC-2, but eventually I went back to the 48k.
Having monitor control with active crossovers can cost a lot more than this interface.
I'm going to do the patch to make XP handle firewire properly. I think this is the source of a lot of driver problems, may be. Optimising your PC for Audio on Windows XP .: Focusrite Answerbase |

It's only second to the Prism Orpheus, as a high quality firewire interface. Way better than my friend's Fireface 800. I may be selling my 6 month old konnect 48 to get the prism as a d/a for my spider.

It really is a great piece of kit. I've had one for about a year. Features second to none, conversion and pres are really top notch as well.
Unfortunately, the first one I had had the failing preamp problem of some of the early runs. Despite TC's total crap incident report based tech support (do not respond to this email...close your question after 96 hours of inactivity etc. etc.), they sent me a new one fresh from the factory! Since getting this one rolling with TC NEAR 2.2, I've had a couple of mixer crashes ....ymmv
I still highly recommend it though, it just might take a little time to iron out the kinks.

nice to hear that they finally made good drivers | They took the driver development back inhouse to solve the driver problems. It seems that did it.

I have been very happy with the TC Konnekt 48. They have DEFINITELY solved whatever drivers issues people were having. It is stable as can be and its DSP plugins are truly sparkling beautiful. I had the MR816csx but I am much happier with the Konnekt 48. The IO is incredible. The mix control is very simple. TC Electronics got the hardware right on! They just needed to fix the driver quirks and they have.

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you could compare the Konnekt 48 to the MOTU 896Mk3. I've been interested in both of the units but leaning towards the MOTU because of the number of mic pre's and the meters on the front are awesome. I need to be able to track a drumset so the MOTU gives me enough mic pres right off the bat. However, the Konnekt 48 has been getting really good reviews. I really like the MOTU but is the K48 worth choosing over the MOTU even though it only has 4 mic pre's? |
