Anyone here modding the look of Logic?

I know some folks are modding the Logic interface... got anything to show? I think it's interesting to see what people do with it

I made some subtle changes to mine so I'll post first... be gentle

Hi,
thats actually pretty cool,

most of the Logic GUI mods that i've seen look like cheap crap, but this is pretty good.

im not sure about the "shiny" meters though, a bit too much of a distraction for me personally.

personally, i've never felt the need to modify the visuals in Logic, i actually don't really understand where this desire comes from.
can you explain for me why the GUI needs to be modded?

I've posted these before on here, but if any one wants these GUI mods fell free to download them, they are totally clean and virus free.

Just click once on the Logic icon in your applications folder (for those that don't know how to do this) hold down ctrl or click the little wheel at the top of the window, show package contents/ Contents/ Resources, double click your Resources folder and just drop the mod files in, back up your resources folder too (just in case you want to revert back to the old style layout of the app) and save it somewhere else.

What you will find is that with each >> new << update of the Logic application you'll have to drop the mod files back into the Resources folder as they get wiped with the new update/s so its best to keep a back up of the mods that you like to use inside Logic.

Thats no problem, glad I could help out, I just can't stand those orange meters either, why on earth can't they make them green? Looks a whole load better in my opinion, maybe not to so peoples tastes

Is it possible to make/ modify this 'dark' looking mixer in light grey/ silver color, just the same color as you select the channel strip and it lifts up to grey?
(i wish Logic had the same look and color as Protools 7...looks far more 'pro' !
The features of Logic are getting there, but it still has the looks of a toy...)

oh yeah

yeah orange was a weird choice. most similar meters are green. orange may even be ok if it was more fluid rather than the little dashes graphically.

i dont mind most of Logics GUI, just hate the meters and the faders. should just be a fader graphic like 99% of all daws have

I used to do this with Reaper and its skins, until i realised that they all look crap, and the default skin is the least crappy of them all

idea

what would be coool.... for any daw makers listening.

If anyone has gone on the tonelux site you can build your own desk out of their products in whatever order you want. Daws should be like this... essentially they are but not so much graphically.

kinda like something in that propellerhead record program where it will look like a console, but you can custom build/layout for every session etc. if you select 8 compressors on 8 buss it will look like a board with such, etc but somehow utilizing the plug-ins gui ... maybe that makes no sense but go on tonelux and build some stuff and youll get the idea

the orange over gray kind of reminds me of Neve console bridge meters.. i kinda like it better than the green/yellow personally.

Thats friggin great. I've added my own Icons but thats about it. Back in OS 9 (the old days I used to change to Arranger BG to patterns made with the old Alien Skin Photoshop Plug-ins. Gave each song I was working on its own flavor.

Over the years I got lazy. But I think I'll try it again.

Can you post your mods for download?

Tony. Is there any way to put the segments in the meter, like on the orange meter? Just wondering. Love the segments. Great colors, now just need the segments. Thanks

This is my first attempt at redoing logic, I quite like it, i've made some very minor changes e.g. checkboxes as well as major changes such as the transport bar.

Further down is the result of my modding effort. I did the mods for L8, but they should also work in L9. Remember, you can always mix and match, and pick mods from different sources.

This is the first time I see someone successfully modifying the transport bar. I didn't know this was even possible. Can you upload the files somewhere and make them available to all?

Hey ya inthere

If you follow the steps a few posts back that I put up its pretty easy, make sure you make a back up of the Resources folder just incase you think, nah, much prefer Logic before the mods

Great! You know, it might be subtle changes, but I can actually HEAR the improvements, the low mids are more wide and yet defined, and the bass is just a bit more punchy... I'm gonna do some more listening and a good old null-test. I'll post some files later....

Any way to post a version that only modifies the Logic mixer meters to be blue (like Nuendo/Cubase blue)?

Actually what i was interested in was changing the entire Logic mixer jet black.

Does anyone know where to look for to change more of Logic's mixer, apart from just changing some knobs?
It would be nice to change the whole look incl. colour of the mixer. Maybe more in the direction how Protools looked like (till version 7). But it should be hidden somewhere. Maybe its major look is also defined in a text file somewhere? Or deep deep within the program file itself? But how can we open this, with what kinda editor? I think we will never know. Maybe version 10 will have a nice make over (personally I think they will give it the look and feel of their Final Cut Pro, which I really like), or will give us the option to get to see more of how Logic is been build up according to its graphics...
