Stylus RMX in Logic

Hey...

This is probably one for the Logic Group, but I thought I'd try here first.

I'm using a multi in Stylus RMX, and want to print the tracks (8 stereo pairs) to audio for moving to ProTools. I can't seem to figure out how to get the 16 outs of RMX to CoreAudio tracks. And I can't see anyway to use the Track to Audio File.

What have I missed?

What about if you solo the MIDI then bounce each track one at a time?

Soloing the midi should work. The only down side I guess is you'd have to bounce one track at a time.

Haven't tried it, but I'd bet if you route your multi to Aux Objects in logic, you could then assign each Aux to a different output (or bus) and thus be able to bounce everything in one go... Probably.

I just used Stylus a ton on a commercial job, and it was an absolute lifesaver. It really comes to life when you start adding in the expansion libraries and your own .rex files. Just wish Logic had a more elegant 'logical' way of handling multichannel instruments in the arrange page. Luckily though, Stylus has extensive automation features so you can usually get around Logic's limitations in this area.

cheers

Well, yeah, one at a time totally works... it's just time consuming. That's the way I had to do it back in the dark ages... ha!

Yeah, that's the way BFD works, but those outputs that RMX has don't show up in the list like BFDs do. I must be missing something... I saw that Eric P did all the RMX video demos in Logic... surely they worked this issue out.

Ok... here's the answer. I did figure it out eventually, but Erik on the Logic Users Group explained it nicely.

Ok, here goes:

Open a multichannel instance of RMX, choose your loops/sounds on different
channels in RMX, go to the mixer section in RMX, choose your stereo outs
from A to H in RMX.

Now, create DTDM AUX's to recive from RMX multiple outs. Output A will be
recieved by the DTDM instrument object you instanciated RMX on, by default.
Output B through H will be represented as RMX 3-16 in your AUX's input
slots. From here you can bus your AUX's to DAE inputs via the ESB bridge and
record.
I do the same thing only keep it all on the CoreAudio driver, as I route out through an RME card via lightpipe to get back to the PT hardware.
