Hey guys When working in the box does it matter much if you process some tracks(with effects) offline? To clarify, I usually process everything in the final mixdown...but if I process some of the tracks before that, in order to gain more cpu room, will it degrade those tracks on final mixdown..or does it not matter?

Supposed to be the same, on paper. Whether it really is is up to the particular plug-in manufacturer and your DAW, and whether or not the output from a real time insert and the offline version are truly the same. To test it you could do it both ways and invert one and see if they null.

What he said. It really shouldn't make any difference. But then the road to hell is paved with reasonable assumptions... Test it and make sure. |
