Proof of Logics outdated audioengine?

It's almost scary to read all these reports of Logics audioengine sounding muddy and less professional compared to other DAWS. I haven't noticed any difference at all. But then again I haven't spent that much time with PT8/Cubase etc.

Seriously, I'd really like to hear/experience the difference.

Give us audio examples, analysises etc.

Best,
John

In several years of experience with all the leading DAW's I have found that they all sound the same except when you use the included plugins or different converters. I hear no difference between Logic Pro and PT HD if you use the same plugins or perform the same operations.

Good luck with that. If these "differences" were real, I highly doubt Logic would be employed by so many reputable people in the music & film industries, all of whom can afford any solution they want. Pick your favorite analogy: it's the driver - not the car... it's the Indian, not the bow, etc.

Bottom line: people will believe what they want, no matter the evidence to the contrary - and in this case there is plenty.

I use Cubase 5, Ableton 8 and Logic 8 (actually just upgraded to 9 yesterday). I hear no sonic differences in any of them as far as tracking and summing audio tracks.

I was hearing a big difference, but it turned out to be just excess of wax...

If you are hearing a lot of buzzing and crackling in Logic, what you can do is, make a hat out of tin foil. This will stop the government from reading your mind, and then you can focus on your mix better. Trust me.

Don't be soo daft!. It has to be made out of steel wire mesh.... with a ping pong ball suspended on top.

Hey John- once you've got it made and fitting snugly, you have to hide out for a couple of days until the black helicopters stop flying over your house- I usually use a nearby sewer. Unfortunately you have to always wear the tin foil hat- more of a helmet, actually, that's a common misnomer- even when you shower, or you'll pop up back on the government's grid. You'll also want to quit brushing your teeth, fluoride is, as you know, a mind control device also planted by the government. But one you've done all that, just start mixing away!

Your friends and family won't believe what they're hearing out of you. Their jaws will drop!

P.S: Don't believe what Arksun is saying- that guy's crazy or something. A ping pong ball... what's that going to do? It's ridiculous.

Don't believe anything Larry just wrote, he's working for them.

Anyone who tries to tell you fluoride in water ISN'T a mind control device works for them, or has been taken in by their propaganda.

Oh, and the tinfoil hat will only work if you grease the inside properly with duck fat.

Logic sounds the closest to tape, all the other DAWS sound more digital/better.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but it's been scientifically proven that the tinfoil hat actually helps conduct the mind control energy beams into your brain. I'd imagine duck fat would increase this further. I have not yet seen a study regarding the addition of a ping pong ball.

Of course, the fact that Larry Mal suggested the tinfoil hat PROVES he's working for "THEM".

Finally! An accurate, factual discussion about which DAW sounds better!

Wow, there is a lot of bad information being thrown about in this thread.

The only way to effectively block mind control beams (and to prevent any interference with your DAW) is to wear a hard hat with a lead lining. It may be overkill, but I also like to wear a lead codpiece as the mind control beams are suspected of reducing sperm count undoubtably part of a government population control program.

You're welcome.

A codpiece.... I've been such a fool! How could I have been so wrong? How could I have missed such an obvious thing?

This explains why my "child" avoids looking at me or spending time with me... she's not mine at all! She's probably a robot, is what she is!

I've been infiltrated... by forces unknown.

All of a sudden, what DAW sounds better seems less important. I'm going to lay down now... need sleep...

I too thought Logic sounded muddy until I bought the solution via EBay. Now it sound *much* better.

Hahaha... Look at your cats eyes!

If that isn't a "Oh no, Not another picture in a stupid fukkin' hat" expression I don't know what is!

Yeah it's really outdated.

12 bit and only mono - Apple get your shit together.

Not to mention the 22kHz sample rate.

Some mixing engineers whose opinions I really respect think that Logic sounds better than PT......................

For me, they sound the same, but I mix better in nuendo.

For one, the logic mixer always seems really hot to me. On most of my mixes, I end up with all of the channel faders down more than 10dB, but when using pre-fader metering, nothing is clipping. I know it's 32-bit float, but I always feel like I am out of headroom on the stereo bus. Never felt that way in N4.

Also, the faders are rather short, and the resolution of the fader is low, making it a little harder for me to place things in the mix. (Yes, I know that the mix engine has much more resolution than the fader, but seriously, I mix with the fader, not the automation slider in the arrange window.)

I just think it's harder to mix in Logic, so it sounds perceptually worse to some people...
