The "Logic 9: did they fix this" forum...

OK, after wading through page after page on the other Logic 9 threads, it seems like there's room for one more. Lots of people are asking if [bug/feature] has been fixed or added in 9, so in an effort to focus the threads a bit, I'll start this one off. As a courtesy to everyone, let's please try and stay on topic here...

1. restore the ability to assign the "prelisten" output as needed in the Sample Editor. I was stunned when that changed in 8 - as of now you can't audition your work through the intended channel (and its plugins). Useless...

2. restore lateral movement between submenus; this broke (or was 'fixed' according to devs) in v8

3. "Close Project w/out saving" key command crashes Logic as of v8

4. speed up display when trying to change track icons or access channel strip & plugin menus; it takes several seconds as of now. Also, display the icons horizontally instead of vertically to eliminate scrolling! These items should be cached when Logic boots so it doesn't have to 'think' every time you access them.

5. restore "close floating window" key command

6. fix pen tool when drawing in the piano roll; as of now It feels "sticky" and will not allow you to draw smoothly; it will often draw straight lines when you're trying to draw a curve, etc. This is crucial for editing expression and other performance data, especially for virtual instruments like strings, etc.

7. remember last folder level/Finder location when saving channel strip presets; as of now it always starts at the root level of the "Channel Strips" folder.

8. Piano Roll editor should always reflect selected region!!! Example: if you have a region selected that starts at bar 32 but your SPL is at bar 31 and there's a previous region at bar 26, the Piano Roll editor will show the contents of the region on bar 26 rather than the one selected.

9. add volume & plugin edits to Undo History

10. add assignable key commands to all Hyperdraw controllers - or at least #11 (Expression) - LOTS of people use that!

11. add "drop-down" folders to see contents within context of arrangement. In other words, the ability to have a folder drop down (just like automation lanes) so you can easily move tracks/regions into & out of folders while seeing the rest of your project. Those of us with large scoring templates tend to categorize things (strings, winds, brass, perc, etc.) and this would be a HUGE timesaver...

Thanks for your time. I look forward to checking out 9 but I'm in the middle of some projects & can't risk the bleeding edge right now... the generosity of your responses would be appreciated!

Add to the list: Since v.8, the save button on the Mackie/ Logic controller still doesn't go out or mark the project saved on the document icon ( although it does seem to save the document).

Oh yeah, forgot this biggie: GRAPHICS GLITCHES. Logic has always suffered from various graphics bugs, and this one is particularly embarrassing (see screen shots)...

12. Glitch/pop when the SPL hits a new region for the first time? Getting a good bounce means automating mutes or volume fades at the beginning of every single track

13. Is the GUI is compensated for in Logic 9? e.g. - if you have a load of latency heavy plugins, nothing is actually 'in time' in terms of meters etc.

14. Also, if you send loads of tracks to a bus and need sample accurate automation (de-essing for example), is it still the case that you have to send ALL the tracks that you want to automate to a bus in order for the automation to get even remotely close to sample accurate again.

Thanks!

Anyone know the answers to the above?
I know this is an old thread but I couldn't find the answers quickly or all in one place...
I have the option/window to go to 9 soon, but it needs to work.

Now, (15.) I find the ability to select objects in a window which doesn't then assume focus is a stunner... Have they fixed that?
