Toontrack S2 crashes Logic 8 & 9

Yesterday I installed Logic 9. It was a bit of a headache since I'm on a G5. I ended up uninstalling L8 and L9 including all of the pkg and pref files for all included software. I reinstalled both L8 and L9 and found an XSKey installer problem that ended up fixing my L9 woes.

BUT unfortunately after this process ant Toontrack software crashes both Logic 8 and 9. I can't get any work done because all of my projects use Toontrack drums. If a project has S2.0 on it it will crash as soon as it's opened. If I open an empty project and insert S2.0 Logic will crash.

If I rescan the AU it crashes validation. AND even opening Toontrack Solo stand alone without Logic open crashes just after opening.

I've completely reinstalled Logic 8, Logic 9 and Toontrack Superior 2.0 with the 2.11 upgrade. Any clues what I should try next?

Make sure you're using Superior Drummer version 2.1.1.

2nd. Repair your permissions. Also, use Leopard Cache Cleaner on Medium setting in the cache section and do all 3 choices.

I've never had any problems with Superior Drummer and Logic 8 running together. I have not installed Logic 9 though.

Haven't updated to 2.1.1 yet on my notebook, which is the only thing I have L9 installed on, and haven't loaded Superior at all in a Logic 9 session, but once update to 2.1.1 I'll give it a go and report back. For what's worth:

Sorry to hear that. It's working on my Mac Pro.. Could it be a ppc thing?

Just tested 2.1.1 on my MBP with Logic 9 and no problems. Sorry you're having trouble man - I totally know how much of a bummer that can be. Have you tried running Disc Warrior? Hope it all turns out.

G5 is not an Intel based computer. Its PPC based.

LP9 system requirements clearly indicate that you need an Intel machine. I wouldn't be surprised if you encounter issues/crashes on a G5 with LP9. Why are you bothering ?

You should probably roll back to 8.

I know it's not too smart but I really want to get 9 working. I've been waiting for drum editing tools in Logic for years. I love PT8 but hate flying tracks between the two.

Besides I really don't feel like it's an issue with L9. Even toontrack solo crashes with no logic in sight. I think I just accidentally erased something important when I was uninstalling. I did erase some rewire files since I don't use rewire. I'm about to try buying a new drive and restoring from Time Machine.

Just an update. I did a clean install of Leopard and now Logic 9 and Toontrack are working flawlessly!

still probably another days worth of installing, but I have my Time Machine backups for iTunes, bookmarks and stuff like that. I'm actually feeling refreshed having a new clean system. It's literally been 4 years of junk piled up. So now I can just install what I really use and need.

I'm not sure where to post this, but I recently bought superior drummer and whilst I love the sounds and its functionality the bloody thing just keeps on causing logic 9 to crash. I am using the latest version downloaded from toontrack and I run it on osx 10.6.8
I am currently reinstalling superior drummer to see if that will change my fortunes. would reinstalling leopard help??
any suggestions greatly welcomed

Hey Vincent,

it should work fine in 10.6.8. It certainly does here. Does it crash for you the instant you instantiate it? Are you running Logic in 32-bit mode or 64-bit mode? Any other plugs on the session? What machine are you using?

And finally, you may get more targeted help over at the Toontrack forum. The TT guys hang out over here a little bit, but they really do a pretty good job of helping out on their own, dedicated, forum.
