I stopped using Safari. Resource hog, slow and with a lot of spinning beachball hangups. Recently switched to Firefox 3.5 and it's so much better.

Try 4... You'll be surprised... I was using Firefox for a while too, but this is sweet!

I've actually had terrible luck with Safari 4. Renders lag, program crashes and hogs resources much more than Safari 3. That and I don't really ever use the new features like Top Sites.

I'm occasionally among the 1/3 of 1% of Windows users who use Safari. (I'm on 4 Public Beta, 528.16.)

My take on Win Safari 4:

I'm amused with myself that I miss the old brushed aluminum bezel. (Aluminium to you Brit-speakers.) The new, no-nonsense look (in Windows) certainly looks clean and professional and less like they're trying to prove something. That said, I still kinda miss the brushed aluminum.

Performance feels faster, sometimes a fair amount faster, as advance word led me to expect. (But previous Win versions seemed really slow to me, as I'm told they did to many Mac users, so maybe that's not saying that much. Still, it doesn't strike me as draggy, as previous versions did.)

I don't like the switch to IE-like full-page zoom instead of text-only zoom as I'm used to with FF and Chrome and previous Safari versions -- that's a real drag, to my way of thinking, though it's nice to be able to switch to, when you want it. I just almost never want it.

One thing that is impossible to ignore: Safari (at least this Win version) now shares a lot of design/layout similarities with its WebKit cousin, Chrome. But Chrome is much, much faster -- than any of the other browsers -- on my machine.

That Top Sites feature is cool because it fits all the pages I normally go to, right there! Kinda like looking at 10 different TV's...
