Aurora 8 problems with digi 003 and itunes....itunes no digital out

Hello,

I have the lynx aurora 8 ad/da converter. I want to use my adat 1-2 outs to monitor itunes using the digidesign hw (003) selection in the sound section of system properties on my mac os x leapord. Only once did it work for me, when speaking with aurora tech support they suggested I reorder my outpus in the i/o settings of pro tools le. So I put adat 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 although they were still technically under outputs 9-10, 11-12,-13-14. Just in the order first and then analog 1-2,3-4...etc after. And it did work. But today, Ive tried everything. Itunes core audio and my adat digital out are not working together. I cannot hear the music.

Im so stumped as to why it worked once and now, it wont do it at allllll.....

=(

Any help greatly appreciated!

My Setup:
Mac Pro
2x2.8 GHZ Quad
Leapord 10.5.4
Pro tools Le 7.4 cs3
Lynx Aurora 8 with LT-Adat Card
Digi 003 Rack

Go on the core drivers and turn on the mirror for the Analog to send the same signal to the digital outputs!

mirroring will only mirror to spdif. the only way to listen to music through your adat outs would be to have protools open and listen through the workspace browser. you will have to set up your audition path properly in your IO setup first.

Thank you for your suggestion. But the only problem with mirroring the analog is that Im using digi's analog 1-2 rather than aurora 8's DA?

Right??

Wow.....that cant be the case...I hope not.

Anyways, I was able to get the itunes to play from adat 1-2 once. Lynx support recomended I change the order of the i/o settings in pro tools. It did work once. But no more.

How come in Core audio software they give you the option for hardware setup?

I'm using the exact same setup currently (well, except I'm using the 003 console).

Yes, you do need to mirror the analog outputs through CoreAudio, and it will go to ADAT. Mirroring doesn't use the 003 converters - it's simply sending the same signals to the ADAT outs and the digi converters.

You don't need to reorder anything, and the setup doesn't require anything from PT. You just can't go above 48k on your Aurora, because the 003 only handles 44.1 and 48 for ADAT.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for clarifying that for me. Actually thank you to everyone for helping out. I am currently doing the mirror analog outs 1&2 to digital outs. And i do hear music. I am still confused though...Im new to this AD/DA world. Maybe you can expain:

When im in pro tools and I choose analog 1-2 I can hear music through my headphone outlet on the 003 and the monitor output. But when I select adat 1-2 I then hear music through my aurora 8. Wouldnt mirroring the analog 1-2 from digi 003, just be sending the signal through the D/A of 003 and then to the digital outs of adat 1-2 when selecting mirror? Im just trying to wrap my head around this....

Any insights greatly appreciated! =)

EDIT OH!!!!! I just really read your post tim, so mirroring is just simply sending the same signal out of digi convereters and adat!!! I see =) THANK YOU!
