Thread Starter | DAWs - Which GUI is Best Overall?
Of these choices, which one of these has the right amount of lightness/darkness and colors, the right amount of mouse-able features and info displays (some called it clutter) the right design layout, etc etc? And why? PS I can add a few more-any suggestions in the major DAW player group? PPS - how do you edit a Slutz poll? I can't add more options. |

All I know is that the Logic GUI looks fun while the others look more utilitarian, but I like that about it. Pro Tools looks really good too. Toss up!

Wavelab 4 was apparently designed on the North Pole.

I put PT8 but I prefer working with Logic somehow Still, I run PT M-powered for compatibility or small projects. Nice software. Logic is great though and that's my main thing. |

I voted Logic 8, though i like the PT interface too. i think the fact that with PT8 the visuals have become very "logic-ish" speaks volumes. i never liked the PT7 visuals, it was like staring at a lightbulb, i know you can adjust that but it never suited me. |

My Vote ----------> (( N U E N D O )) I'm a "Cubase 5" users, which IMHO has a great GUI design as well. Looking forward to add "Nuendo 5" when it's released. |

I'm a Logic user but as far as GUIs are concerned I think Samplitude and Reaper wins over everyone else simply because they are fully skinable and some of their third party designed skins are incredible.

I chose Nuendo because it was the closest to how Logic 7 looked. PT 8 looks good except for the giant tool bar that you can't re-size Who ever was involvedwith designing PT 8 apparently didn't test it much on laptops. It seems you need a monitor with at least 1900x1200 for it to look 'normal' I would have to say If Logic 7 were a choice above it would be #1 then Logic 8. If they could darken the panels and allow at least an option for it then it would be spot on for me. Maybe a little more contrast as well. |

For me DP6 GUI looks very sophisticated and so different from other DAWs. So my vote goes to DP 6 |

I'm a Logic man, but I Soooo prefer the Pro Tools 8 interface. I think it's so beautiful, they really nailed it. If it weren't for the crippled aspect of MP/LE or the overpriced nature of HD I'd be in PT8 full time. For now I only get to experience it's beauty while editing drums in MP. |

logic 8 looks the most uniform, and I like it taking up the whole screen without bunches of boxes. plus, it's similar in design to waveburner and soundtrack pro, and I love that- the whole unified design amongst products.

My vote for SONAR. Wavelab is an editor, not a DAW. No choice for SONAR? Vegas? Acid? What kind of poll takes out some of the most serious contenders while including unrelated entries? |

My vote is for Digital Performer 6 too. It might not have much eyecandy but it's a joy to use!

Personally, I find this poll rather silly. A static screenshot in no way imparts the user experience of a DAW application. Sort of like showing a picture of a car and asking how well it does around a track. jeff |

I voted for Logic 8, I just love the interface, I understood it faster and better than with other DAWs. It is just one thing that I would like : automatic random colors for tracks, the rest is perfect for me

Logic 8, although I really like the new Reaper 3.0 GUI as well: ![]() I did change the meters in the Logic 8 mixer to 'conventional' green/yellow ones. I don't like the standard orange ones.
