'The More Ram the worst' True or False

I forgot where I read this, but does more ram hurt the computer for running audio appl? On vista 64 bit sp 1 I have quadcore pc, 2.4 ghz, and 4 gb ram. About 3.15 available. Is that enough? I see omnisphere anf maschine require 2 gb of ram. So in the future my guess pc requirements will be more demanding. My pc has given me no probs. Running ableton here.

To prepare for the future should I invest in another quadcore pc to get more at 6 or 8 gb of ram? Im afraid I wont have enough to run omnisphere. What do you think?

Yeah, you'll be fine. 4 cores are blazing fast, and 4 gigs are more than enough to make music AND download porn.

I believe Omnisphere is a relative RAM pig. Not typical of many/most VSTi's but moreso on the bleeding edge... but if that's what you're set on running, guess you might need all that RAM.

Is Omnisphere 64 bit compatible? If not it wont be able to use more than shared 3gb. To be able to use more than 4gb, your OS must be 64, and your apps and plugs must be 64 bit compatible and installed that way. Installing an app or plug in 32 bit mode on a 64 bit OS won't let you take advantage of any more ram than a 32 bit OS within that app. unless your sidechaining it possibly.
