Apple WWDC 2009 / Snow Leopard and OpenCL

Hello all!

Good news for audio people, at least that's my opinion!

Snow Leopard will have OpenCL!

"Next, OpenCL. Over 1 teraflop power in GPUs now. The current way to use this power is with OpenGL, but it's limited to graphics and games. Apple wants to use this power for all sorts of things, and thus has built OpenCL (C stands for computing). Hardware abstraction, C-based language, automatic optimization, numerical accuracy (can be used for scientific calculations). Open standard that many companies are participating in."

This means plug-in power!! I hope to see companies developing plug-ins that use macs GPU also.. It's like a built-in UAD in every mac ready for everyone to make plug-ins!!

Also, the Snow Leopard upgrade from Leopard will be $29. Great!

Which has nothing to do with what we are talking about here. There's already a discussion on that on the other topic!

Fair enough, you may want to edit the title accordingly. I am sure I will not be the only one making that mistake.
