Configuring Logic to Act Like RADAR (or a tape machine)

Hi All,

I've got an Aurora 16 setup and want to use Logic 8 as pretty much strictly a recorder. I will be mixing on an analog console later so all Logic has to do is capture the tracks and maybe do some punchins, overdubs etc. Logic has lots of bells/whistles I realize. What is the best way to configure Logic to be a bare bones "hit-record-and-lay-down-a-song" tool, much like a RADAR or analog tape machine? FYI, not doing electronic music, mostly acoustic/indie stuff.

Is it as simple as preconfiguring a template and hitting record when I'm ready to go? I'm also assuming that I won't be needing to record to Logic's click because I'm not worrying about bar/beat edits.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd appreciate what you have to say.

Thanks,
Spindrift

Well you can make a standard recording template in logic that opens auto when you launch logic.
You can group tracks to arm/rec ready (like track 1-8 9-16 etc etc).
Assign track 1 with input 1 -> pan totally left -> output 1/2
Assing track 2 with input 2 -> pan totally right -> output 1/2
Assign track 3 with input 3 -> pan totally left -> output 3/4
Assing track 4 with input 4 -> pan totally right -> output 3/4
etc etc etc
Why? Logic don't understand the basic mono output... strangly...
and hookup the line outputs to you interface and your interface outputs to your line-input of you console and gogogo gadget

But it works for me
Oh don't forget to set your "level meters" (Pref, display, General") to Sectional dB-linear for some better "metering" and to set your Core Audio (Audio, Devices) to 32 i/o buffer size, Recording delay to 0 samples.

Hope that this help.
