Superior 2: much more efficient engine, lower load times, more control over kit/mixer, get EZ Player for free. EZ drummer is no slouch by any means, but you get a ton more features/performance in Superior 2 for not a lot more $!!!

Toontrack Rocks!!!

Agree.

Superior 2.0 has a much improved engine and sample manegement engine, not to mention a million times more control over the vital mixing elements for a professional sounding recording.

Also, it sounds amazing when you play it via a drum kit/trigger pad etc. The response you get is very real, and for me, the most natural sounding to play live. The room mic's are incredible for a live situation. Makes the kit sound beautiful.

It would help to know what you need from the product, and how you propose to use it.
EZdrummer is easy to use, cheaper to buy and a great quick solution to drum tracks.
Superior is more involved, more like working with a real multi-tracked drum session recorded by a top engineer.
So what are you after?

Yeah Superior does that but you really don't need it. EZ Drummer sounds so good just out of the box its questionable how much you're gonna improve upon it. I use EZ Drummer and just add some compression afterwards and the drums sound beautiful.

Less is more.

Indeed. I always preferred EZdrummer for songwriting. Just open it up, drag some grooves into the sequencer, change a couple of hits here and there is a very quick way to work. If you want to use an electronic drumkit you'll probably enjoy Superior much more.

The mixer is indeed very much improved in Superior, it has tons of processing and all that, but if you want to mix with your DAW's plug-ins (or outboard) that will make little or no difference.

So answer chrisso's question and it will be a lot easier to help.

if you need all the extensive sounds, editing and mixing options, get superior. If you just need a drummer to play along with, but don't like the smell of a drummer; get EZ drummer

No one ever mentions this, but they really do sound different as well.
EZ drummer is a much more processed, EQ'd sound and with S2 you can get a processed sound or you can also get it to sound very, very natural.

I think if you go EZ, then the Nashville kit is the most genre neutral. My fav S2 is the NY Allaire kit.

I would go S2. The stock Avatar kit has so many great snare sounds and is crazy versatile. It has open and muted snare hits which make a big difference in how it sits in the track.

S2 for sure.

It's not much more processed. Any processing done is minimal and done extremely well.
