pros advice needed! Changing Pc or adding a UAD2??

hi all!
I'm Julien, newbie here on gearslutz. It's been a while since I read the threads here it was really useful for my projects but I never dare to ask questions. But this time I can't find any answer in my surrounding or on the net so i come to you guys!
Ok here is my question: I have a tiny home studio with an athlon XP3200+
2Giga ram, and i'm using nuendo 3 with an Aardvark q10. Because we don't have enough money, we can't go to a "real pro studio" with my band and we're attending to record our first album. So I decided to do it by myself. I already bought an Audix DP7 package for the drums, and I have some other mics like two rode NT3, an NT1000 and a few SM57/58. I also have one TL audio 5051, and a little joemeek threeQ. I saved few bucks (1000€) but I don't know what to do about the plugins: Changing the athlon for an new PC with a dual/quad core 3giga ram config or buying an UAD2 with a good plug in suite?? Most of the time I'm using stillwell plugins, Fish fillet freeware suite, and some Nuendo plugins. Talking about the sound I try to reach, Brendan O'brien is my mentor (I know...)
Please help!! Thanks

I will say that the UAD2 plugins are simply fantastic for mixing. You can get a QUAD OMNI for about $3300 USD. A bit pricey but worth it.

You can get a QUAD FLEXI for quite a few bucks less and then spend your $500 voucher on the plugs you want/need. The FLEXI can be had for less than $2000 USD.

The OMNI is the best value though and there probably are only a couple of the full suite of UAD that I do not use. I couldn't work without the rest of them though.

it looks like you might benefit more from a new microphone than from different plugins. If you are just plain unhappy with your options for EQ or compression, you could buy one good low CPU plug-in and still get a great mic. WaveArts Trackplug and an at4060 or a Mojave audio MA-200, for example.

About the mics, I thought about renting a Neumann U87 for the vocals...I have good results with my NT1000 but you can't compare with a good mike! Yes wavearts Suite5 looks interesting.. I'll have a try!
