Thread Starter | How to write MIDI automation data in real-time without destroying MIDI note data?
In Pro Tools 8.... I've drawn out my MIDI notes. Now I'd like to play them back and simultaneously record automation data using hard faders/knobs etc. I can't do this without overwriting the original MIDI note data.....anyone? |

In protools, open the transport window. There is a symbol with two lines that merge into one (I think it is on the right hand side). I believe it is called midi merge. This will add any automation you play while recording without overwriting the other info.

Thank you both, that helped. I guess my next question would be....how come no curve is showing up in my automation lane as I move the fader up and down? The effect on the sound is being recorded, but there is no visual representation in the automation lane.... |
