Whích RME audio interface should I get?

I've got a M-Audio Delta 44 sound card, and would like to upgrade to an audio interface from RME.

I know this is a difficult question for anybody to answer, but if I got a RME HDSP 9632, would I notice a significant improvement in the sound quality on audio playback compared to the Delta 44?

RME HDSPe AIO or RME ADI-2 are two other options, but both are more expensive than the HDSP 9632. Also, with the ADI-2 I'd need to get a new sound card anyway, because Delta 44 has no digital I/O to communicate with the ADI-2 with.

It would be great if I could just get the HDSP 9632 and be happy with that. Then I could save the money compared to getting either an AIO or an ADI-2.

Thanks.

Best regards,
Henrik

PS. I prefer PCI or PCIe, not FireWire or USB. Thus no Fireface for me.

I'm a former Delta 66 user who recently obtained a 9632. I love it! Seems clearer with more depth, and the drivers so far are very solid and reliable.

+1 RME Multiface, set and forget interface!!! Very very reliable and great sound, plus if u ever wanna step up u could get better convertors and hook them up to the adat ins.

U will never regret buying RME!

Thanks!

How is the DA conversion of the various RMEs (HDSP 9632, HDSPe AIO and Multiface II) compared to Fireface 800, did any of you do a A/B-test?

I'm asking because I had a chance to listen to the FF800 a few weeks ago, and was very impressed. Especially with the way electronic bassdrums sounded. The FF800 has a lot of power and punch.

Is this a description you feel you can recognize from listening to your audio interface too? (HDSP 9632 and the others)
