Is it worth going 64bit?

Hey guys,

I am in the poccess of getting a new DAW pc, and using it with Cubase or Nuendo-is it worth going 64 bit?

To my undertanding, the operating system,hardware and daw software inc plugins all have to support 64 bit right?

can you run 32 bit software seemlesly on a 64bit operating system?

YES, when ALL the plugin&virtual instrument developers will get off their lazy asses and make 64bit versions of their products!
Which unfortunately I don“t see happening anytime soon... Been waiting for years now the glorious day, when I could use more than 4GB of RAM, but I think we might have to wait some years more...

thanks for the reply-its a bummer not being able to utilise hardware tothe max for us daw inthusiasts huh!?

You can still run 32 bit software on a 64 bit operating system. And if your DAW is Large Address Aware you can utilize much more RAM.

All of your device drivers will have to be 64-bit though, am I right? So if you have any devices that do not have 64-bit drivers then you're SOL.
