Thread Starter | Can I Automate "Time" for musical "******"???
Is there a DAW program that will allow the tempo or grid to actually change? Not just go from 104 bpm to 101 bpm, but to actually make a gradual increase or decrease of tempo? I would like to make gradual tempo changes for slowly speeding up or slowing down during a verse, chorus, key change, etc. It would apply to a musical "******" where a couple measures would slow down without going off the grid in the project.

Ableton Live's warp markers will get you very close. And if it's monophonic material Melodyne will also quantize audio.

I believe that most (if not all) DAW's will let you do what you want through beat mapping or tempo mapping (they all call it something different). You take a 'master' track that can even be played without a click, so it organically slows down and speeds up a little, then set your tempo/beat/warp markers to that track. Now if you quantize other tracks they'll follow the tempo changes in the master track. The difference between the DAW's is that some will only be able to apply tempo changes to midi tracks, while others can apply tempo changes to audio tracks. |

Wow that's awesome! Thanks Guys! I just did it and it works great. I'm an idiot for not learning this sooner....that's what the tempo track does. |
