Crashing...still!!

Hi folks,
I have a MOTU 828 MK2 that came with Audiodesk. I recently bought a G5 1.8 dual and have transfered stuff over to it to use it for music full time. When I initially installed Audiodesk it would crash everytime I tried to add an effect. I reinstalled the entire system, swipping the hard drive clean. Problem still exists. There was an update on the MOTU site, but no change. Relly getting me down. Anyone had similar issues and found a solution?

Thanks.

oh, I have a number of 3rd party trial plug-ins installed (most have expired. Should I get rid of them?)

Leon

Exclamation do it

Getting rid of the plug-ins won't hurt, especially if the trial period is over. Have you repaired disk permissions? Do you have DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro to inspect your disk (you should tutt )? Have you tried calling MOTU? Is the hardware in the G5 stock from Apple? Is Audiodesk the only app giving you grief?

OK, will get rid of those expired plug-ins. Yup, repaired permissions and have run tech tool pro. All G5 stuff is stock, except the memory, but I am having no problems with other apps. Audiodesk is the only app giving me grief.

The problem with MOTU Tech is the time difference and that they wouldn't let me register my stuff with them because I bought it in Japan.

Seems to happen alot with the Dynamixs effect, but that just may be because it is usually the first one I ad to a channel.

Frustrating...

Thanks for the tips.

Remove of all the plugins except for the ones that come with AudioDesk. Then add them back one by one until you find the culprit. Once you find the offending plugin(s), don't use it anymore. And yes, permanently remove any expired demo plugins.

Also, check all your plugins to see if there are more recent versions of them. Cracked plugins could also be a problem, if you have any of those.
