If you're on HD8, as long as there's no TDM plugs before Wave Rider, you don't have to nudge, ADC on or off. (this is assuming your H/W buffer is at 1024.)

This might be confusing because on HD7 systems you have to have ADC on regardless.

I can wait a bit for the Windows VST version, but in the meantime, a question please:

In this video ‪Wave Rider Ride mode (Classic & Averaging)‬‏ - YouTube , the first example (spoken words) ...

... it shows Wave Rider smoothing out the overall volume - soft bits made louder and vice versa. Looks like it does a great job of that.

But with singing, sometimes we want a lot of dynamics, not to squash them flat.

Does that mean Wave Rider wouldn't be so good to put on a dynamic vocal track that we'd like to preserve dynamics of (for example, there might be a phrase that starts out quite loud, then drops to very soft ... all intentionally)?

You can keep some of the dynamics of the performance by setting the WR accordingly.

Thanks for answering, Mundox. From the glowing testimonials, I guess that means that time spent tweaking to get the right settings in Wave Rider (for example, in a situation like a track with very dynamic vocals) is much less than the time one would have spent manually automating.

I wonder the same thing sometimes and the answer is always "by far". It's actually quite fast to set up and tweak. Once I get something I like I save it as a preset so all the vox in a project, for example, need only minor adjustments if at all. I have a workflow and preset for each track-- bass, guitar solo, etc.

If I compress again it's usually for the character of the compressor. If I automate further it's just for musical effect-- bringing up drum fills, certain words, etc.

does anybody know if you can use this plug with good results on-

1.bass
2.drums or percussion
3.full mix-sometimes to smooth things out before hitting the master bus
or to not make the limiter work too hard etc.

also is there some timetable for 'coming soon' such as 2 weeks, 2 months
etc. or are things undefined? I am sort of tempted getting the Waves vocal rider ever since they dropped ilok and the price drastically

thanx

Sorry guys, I can't give you exact days, developing plugins have challenges that are not exactly predictable.

XP?.. Starting at Pro Tools 9 (or was it 8) Pro Tools only works on 7.

We can't confirm that at this stage, but keep your ears open.
