Hello

Is anyone able to advise if Studio One will fully support bidirectional communication for multiple Mackie C4 controllers?

Thanks

If you don't mind I'd like to second what Shan is asking about the editing features. I'm a 50/50 ProTools/Cubase user. I use both for their strengths, but I would love to ditch both entirely in favor of a single DAW that can do it all.

Will Studio One have intuitive editing features like ProTools, and an integrated method for editing multi-track audio phase coherently and quickly?

Thanks!
Everything so far with this DAW looks amazing for speed of work flow and production. I hope the editing holds up in that department. If they can meet or beat the editing in that "other" DAW, S1 will make some pretty fast gains into the DAWorld. If S1 can play nice with scripting languages, then at least I'll be able to give it some fast editing functions here and there if need be. The main concept of S1 to focus on work flow and speed of production has many of us impressed so far. Looking forward to getting some hands on.

Shane

Anyone of you Beta Testing Studio One can tell me if you can control your favorite FX plugin via MIDI by only inserting it on a track and clicking MIDI Learn *on the Plugin Interface*? (ex: the MIDI Learn buttom in Volcano2 itself.)

So far, only Ableton Live and Reaper can do this directly, it's one of the things that i'm holding my breath for Studio One. Because in Cubase 4, it's a pain!

I think this video should answer your question regarding MIDI learn/mapping and plug-in control etc.

Hope that helps.

That's cool, thanks for sharing. I hope EuCon will be implemented in a later version.

Anyone have any new updates on when Studio One will be available? I can't wait to try this thing out. Not more beta testers :(

We'll be doing a downloadable demo of StudioOne when it begins shipping late this summer. So those of you that were not able to beta test will definitely get to check it out.

Cheers,

From the Presonus forums-

(I'm assuming Rick won't mind if I post this here???)

We'll be doing a bunch of videos so you can see how it works very soon. Stay tuned!

Super, super cool. Zero latency monitoring within the DAW. No using a virtual "Control Console" as a bridge between the DAW and interface. I wonder if we'll be able to create seperate monitor mixes within the DAW too, or will we still need the Control Console for that?

6, 7, and 8 are all great news. Good to know that Presonus is taking care of its people. thumbsup

The only thing I haven't seen anywhere is whether or not there will be a dedicated comp editing feature implemented into Studio One? I really like what Propellerhead did with Record in this respect... Their comp editor looks impressive. Streamlined, easy, powerful. That's something I would love to see in S1.

The more I hear and see about S1, the more I can't wait for August... :( It's a day one buy for me. thumbsup

how is the compatibility with AU plugs looking? any issues with UA or Waves? incompatibility will be a deal breaker for me, and others for sure.

You seem to be fanning a lot of threads, so I'll ask you:

1) I've heard rumors that Studio One can't freeze tracks. Is this true?
2) I would like to have a top notch controller for my DAW. It's the reason I'm switching from Sequoia (also, I want 64-bit processing). With Nuendo and Cubase, I can use the Tango or (with a Mac) the Euphonix Artist. Logic has the same. With Pro Tools, I have several to choose from. With Sonar, they have their VS700. What does Studio One offer? I don't consider the Mackie a top notch controller, unless Studio One works better with it than the others. I'm willing to think outside of the box on how best to control the DAW but, unfortunately IMHO, using a mouse is tedious, boring and uninspiring.
3) Is the editing as good or better than Nuendo, Pro Tools or Sequoia? How so?
4) Is the automation as good or better than Nuendo or Pro Tools? How so?

I like the concept of the Studio One but I still get the feeling it's not ready for primetime.

Enlighten me.

From the Presonus site:

"Of course, Studio One supports ReWire and the VST and AU plug-in formats, including the new VST 3 plug-in specification, so Studio One is ready to use the newest plug-ins as they are released. It also utilizes automatic delay compensation, which keeps tracks in sync regardless of plug-in processing. But the most glittering gems are PreSonus’s proprietary Native Effects Suite plug-ins, which include a wide variety of built-in effects, such as compressors, EQs, distortion, delay effects, amp modeling, modulation effects, and reverbs. These are brand-new plug-ins that process audio with 64-bit floating-point double precision."

Not exactly the enlightenment I was looking for. Sounds very much like you're avoiding the questions.

I'm not sure if it's worth the wait.

I saw that on the PS web site. didn't really answer my question. that's just marketing-speak. I was looking for a response from someone who has actually tried the program.

Been using it for some months now, but i can't give you detail info on the features just yet. Presonus will be putting some new videos up soon from what i was told and it will show more features from S1. But let me say this, i come from using Cubase and Nuendo and S1 is going to really have the other companies worried. Real talk.

I can confirm this as well... S1 is gonna be a major contender that's for sure. The people behind it are taking it to the Next level trust me.

Cheeers!

I am Beta testing it with UAD-2 and waves Musicians 2 bundle and the API bundle. So far, I have not experianced any issues with the VST side, but they have had a few issues with the AU side of the waves plugs. This shouldn't worry you though because if your on a MAC, you can run both formats. I'm testing on a mac and an XP machine and the plugs have worked great.

With the UAD-2, there have been a few issues with performance, but within the last two or three beta builds, these have been ironed out.

You should be very happy with how your plugs work in this DAW, and if they don't, these guys are very quick to work out the problem and get you going.

The most frustrating thing for me was that Melodyne was not working correctly for a long time, but they fixed it within a couple of builds and I'm loving it.

Every functional issue I've had that would keep me from switching from Cubase to S1 has pretty much been removed. There are some features that are lacking, but it will be a version 1 software. I have no doubt that they will implement more features as time goes by.

The workflow of this DAW is really nice and makes sense. Mixing seems much quicker to me.

My $.02
