^ yeah - especially bugs - seemingly immortal & centenarians in computer years lol

.. but at the end of the day - the same can be said for my main app which 'does it all'... that's why I'm keepin my eye on Studio One...

It's hard to find a corporation which in the big scheme of things, views the reliability of their DAW as a #1 priority... as a result - I find it best not to have all my eggs held hostage in 1 basket..

Everybody's copies everybody in a way or another, it's (to my vision) just about Who (the Dev company) Listens, Act and Delivers the Goods in a better or more innovating way (or maybe not absolutely has to be innovative although its always a plus) and integrates the Features that their users are Requesting for. If you look example, most of the DAW's (major ones) all have now "freeze" function right? Lately Reaper after years of Request they finally make it happen.
On S1 side, this feature didn't took much time cuz it will be in Next big release (as it has already have been leaked news) and it's totally different then Freezing in Cubase/Reaper/Sonar/Ableton etc... but it's there and it's quite nicely done but S1 users will have that feature as well. Etc... etc.. etc...

And at the End its YOU the User who after you tried some Daw's that you heard or hear great things about it and you find this one or that one fits your NEED or Does it Better (doesn't mean the other doesn't have the feature you want or sometimes doesn't have it yet) that you embrace that DAW and make it yours. But mostly because the Team Dev behinds it LISTEN & keeps on Innovating differently (even if the idea was borrowed from others who've already done it).

Take great Example with Apple (May Mr Jobs Soul rest in Peace and Thank you Mr Jobs), as we all know, he did NOT Invent much of the Technology we are using today right? But he Thought Differently and Brought those Ideas that were already going around or exists in a totally NEW and Easy LEVEL. Comes his slogan "Think Different". He pushes the boundaries applying VISION.

I Think

Could go on and on and on ...

Cheers & enjoy making music with your Daw of choice

Be grateful, not hateful.

I'm not a beginner at all and it suits me just fine. I actually put Cubase 5 down for it. Horses for courses and all that...

Here's a V2 feature mashup for anybody wanting to take a look at some of the new features.

Does anyone know if the stereo audio tracks in V2 have separate left and right pan controls yet? The omission of them is beyond unprofessional.

Additionally, in V1 you couldn't make a mono-to-stereo aux track for plugins. Is that changed?

Both of these are obvious pro features found in ProTools which, to me, made Studio One a little too much like Barbie's First Studio, even though S1 sounds phenomenal.

Its not actually a function of the mixer. But there is a plugin that comes with S1 Called "Dual Pan" which will do this exact thing.

Not really sure about your second question - The FX & Bus channels are all stereo. I suppose you could load a plugin that makes it mono. Maybe I'm missing the importance of such a request though.

Additionally, they have added a tone generator plugin in V2. This will come in handy.

...at sixty-three, i'm new to the world of computer recording. i am fascinated that this market has managed to turn something i have been doing for nearly fifty years into a complete mystery.

not to mention that i am suddenly looked down upon as a "beginner".

A dinosaur, eh?

You'll get the hang of it quickly. And really, Studio One is probably the easiest way to start. Post your questions here and on the software of choice forum, you'll come to the 21st century in no time!

Good luck.
