Any insight yet on what the piano roll is like, and can we expect Pro Tools style real-time midi quantization with grooves?

Fantastic. Is the piano roll able to be operated in a separate window ala Pro Tools 8, or is it more like in 7.x and previous, integrated into the edit window.

Features I'd like to see would include:

1. Comp'ing
2. Pitch correction
3. Freezing

Overall though, it looks very good.

As you know DavieB, thoses features are one of the most important noted by Beta users and S1 team and trust me, they heard us and put them as Numero 1 in the TO DO list. So no worries and give them the time. Will they be in the first release, that i can not say but i know that we will be blown away once they are implemented, i'm positive about it!

Cheeeeeeeeeeers!

comping is a big thing for me too. i'm loving the way you can comp in pro tools 8...such a time saver. makes everything easier.

I assume you guys asking for video are scoring to picture? I am pretty sure that focus is not on what we do and at least the first version of the software will not have the MIDI/tempo/scoring features most of us need. I will check out the demo when it comes out, sure, but I doubt this will be a Logic/Cubase/DP killer for film scoring. Focus seems to be on people relying more on audio editing/recording than MIDI.

Another feature that would be very useful in terms of workflow would be the ability to filter and search the browser contents. I know it includes the ability to sort and that is good but it would be even better if the user could simply type in a search string and the browser filters it's content based on that. Logic pro has this kind of functionality and it is very useful.

I am more interested in a post production / sound design tool. Some of the features i have heard touted would be very welcome additions in my work flow.

Is the editing on Studio One like Pro Tools and Digital Performer where you simply highlight the audio section that you don't want and hit delete and it's not in the play back or is it like Logic and some others where you delete and has to 'redraw' or update the audio file?

What are the editing tools like? I wish someone would create a video of the editing in more detail...so if anyone knows of such a video please direct me to it.

Thanks!

No import of a Quicktime movie?

In 2009??

I went on their forum and someone asked and they said "Maybe in the future if we have enough requests."

How serious a DAW can this be? That is a joke...

I am sure you will see this in the future. Studio One is the real deal. This is only the beginning.

Well as someone who is only interested in a Digital AUDIO Workstation, it's no big deal to me - in fact a new ground-up DAW that is purely focussed on Audio and music without any post-production baggage could be perfectly suited to a lot of people.

Yeah, coming from Pro Tools, I'm also very interested in the audio editing part of Studio One, especially the tools.

I think Presonus said they were in the process of making some new videos, can't wait to see those.

For many, loading a QT movie isn't baggage, it's a necessity, which is why all the major DAWS can and do have the feature.

I think Presonus will be very wise, and add video/QT support, hopefully they can promise this will be added in a future update. (possibly before they release S1, or not too long after the initial release).

QT movie support is a must for many 'Pro' DAW users who score to video. Not having a clear idea if this will be supported in future versions of S1 does not encourage me to buy S1.

So, Dear Presonus development team ...Please, Let's know in advance.

I would also love to see an "Arranger Track" type feature implemented in S1, similar to Cubase 4/5. It makes a lot of sense when you need to experiment with various song structure ideas.

Cheers.

I'm ready to do this thing if it'll let me get through big projects without hitting Logic's bugs (which I thought I was unaffected by UNTIL doing big, stressful projects...) - the visual display bugs, cpu overload ruining perfect vocal takes by someone PAYING me to record them with a stable system...

I've learned my way around Logic, and the more stuff I find that it can do, I just love it. But there has GOT to be a way to do it more stably (sp?), and less difficult. I LOVE Logic's comping, but too many damn projects of mine had the comps not line up, mysteriously... hmmmm... and only then did I discover the inabiliity to slide the takes around: something I never thought I'd WANT to do, until they put themselves out of alignment...

When snow leopard hits, if there's not a new logic asap, I'm heading to another option... recording and mixing is something I did for me personally for the last 8 or 9 years, but last year I started looking for income-generating projects, and I need stable. What I'd put up with for my own stuff is not what some paying client is willing to handle, that's for sure.

Anxiously awaiting Propellerhead's Record and Presonus Studio One to freshen up the long-in-the-tooth DAW options,
-Matt

:sigh:

Man, I know companies need to have plenty of time to hype their products before they release, but this pre-release drought of info is killing me! I think companies jump the gun on product announcements sometimes... The end of August is soooo far away. I'm ready for a DAW purchase NOW, and convincing myself to wait for this instead of just scooping up Cubase 5 gets harder and harder every day.

Don't mind me. Just whining. Nothing to see here......
