Ever heard of a Reason file over writing a Protools session file?

Ever heard of a Reason file over writing a Protools session file? They both had the same name and were both in the same directory but come on- they are different file formats! WTF! Is there anyway to get my .pts file back??
Help.

Simple logic dictates that you can't have the same object existing in the same place in more than one form -- it doesn't matter what program you use.. say you have a Word document named "XYZ" you can't save an Excell file named "XYZ" in the same folder/location without overwriting the previous Word file. Start using file extensions to differentiate.

Simply not true. I routinely have share filenames, the only difference is the extension. YOu can definitely have session.xml and session.doc in the same folder. Toss in session.ses, session.pst, session.acd, and session.cpr while you're at it

Perhaps if you reread my post you'll see we're talking about someone not using file extensions... I told him to start using them.

If you're using file extensions.. then you're not naming the files the same name -- they're different (duh).

I doubt it has just automatically overwritten a protools session. It is probably user error... it happens. Software isn't always to blame although we always jump to that conclusion first.

I haven't used PT's in a long time but is there a "recent sessions" menu or something similar under "File"? It might still be in there...

otherwise do a search, im sure its in there somewhere... You might have put it somewhere lese by accident...

OS X *always* uses extensions. files are written to the directory with an extension. It's a user option to hide them or not. Thus, even with extensions off, you can have session.doc, session.pts, session.jpg, session.fuk, etc.etc.
