Monitoring with DIGI002!!!???

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a way to hear your mic or line inputs without recording them (Other than standalone mode) What are some methods you guys use?

If I understand your question correctly, I believe you just make an auxiliary track and assign it to whatever line/mic input you want to hear.

in one of the menu's... setup or something like that (towards the middle) there's an option called "input only monitor". that's exactly what you're looking for.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think he means listening to instruments and sources plugged into the 002R without the need to have ProTools up and running. Since the 002R only allows you to monitor only one stereo signal in standalone mode, you would need an external mixer and route it's outputs to the ALT SRC MON rca inputs. Then, when you press the button on the front panel, you would hear whatever signals is routed there. Since I've gone mixer-less, I really miss that, being able to play my bass, along with a cd, or while a friend jams on the synth and one on guitar.

OK! Let's ask.

JackInslee...
are you talking about the 002 or 002R?
are you talking about Pro Tools mode or not?

I thought the 002 also has a digital mixer mode. That would do what you are asking. I have the MBox and we have the 002R in the studio, but I remember reading in 002 reviews that it functions as a standalone digital mixer. Hope it works for you.
