Cubase SX3 (external FX Plug Ins)

I currently use Logic Pro 7 and I'm happy with it for the most part. I'm thinking of getting Cubase solely based on the fact you can use outboard gear with it seamlessly. I want to start mixing more through outboard gear because I feel like too any plug ins flatten my mixes and make them sound 2 demensional and processed.

So do you SX3 users recomend the switch? Can some of you who use the out board FX chime in on the quality of this feature ? Also how is it on the Mac?

I use Nuendo 3 and totally love the outboard FX feature. Well worth it.

Anyone here using logic with outboard gear successfully. Besides the ones who have HD or TDM hardware.

youve got the i/o plugin in logic which enables you to do this (depending on your soundcards latency)

Yeah, but there is definitely latency needing to be dealt with right? For instance using a RME Fireface.

In Logic: use this plugin: http://www.collective.co.uk/expertsl...encyfixer.html

Insert it after each I/O helper plugin. The latency you have to set in it, is independent of soundcard buffer latency which gets compensated by Logic already. The total RME Fireface I/O loop latency is like 220 additional samples. So set the Latency Fixer to 220 samples and you should be fine.

Works well here
