Exclamation Please help with this PT error message

I'm running PT M-Powered 7.1.1 on Mac OSX 10.4.11

I don't know how to save a screen shot but the error occurs when I go to bounce... it will make it thru the whole song and right when I think it's about to wrap everything up, it says:

Could not complete the Bounce To Disk command
because assertion in "/Volumes/Development/vbpc/
AlturaPorts/NewFileLibs/FileFormat/MacBuild/../../
FF/Audio/FF_audioproperty.cpp", line 33.

This just started last week... what the hell??

*edit* also, this doesn't occur every time I try to bounce...

Thanks in advance.

I got that same thing one time .. I can't remember what the
specifics were ... but, I think I changed the "convert after bounce"
to convert during bounce .. and it worked after that.

If I remember .. i was bouncing to a FAT32 disk on the Mac and it
had problems keeping up..

jeff
ps: I've never gotten it after PT version 7.4 ...

you're not trying to bounce to a usb pen drive are you. usb sticks have been a source of many problems for me (on both tdm and le).

virtually every time a student comes to me with a problem/ crash there is a usb stick involved.

was getting strange error messages on our hd system and i looked them up on net....got reslutls warning about this very thing.

OK, well actually... it didn't... it would get all the way thru but didn't save the file... but I never got an error message. Tried it twice and it did the same thing. WEIRD!

Hmm .. plan B then ...

Try routing all of your audio outputs to a stereo bus ....

make a new audio track, set the input of that track to the audio bus and
the output to A1-2 ... arm the track for record and then record the track
to disk. If you can get it to bounce to disk .. you're golden.

after the bounce, select the region in the new track and do

Command + Shift + K .. and you'll get the export selected dialog.

choose an export directory and set your format to "Stereo" and
you'll have it.

I would try that next.

jeff
ps: if it barfs on recording to disk, then i would try using an external drive .. usually you're
right on the hairy edge where the system drive is competing for I/O with the audio drive.
this happens more on laptops (with the 5400RPM drives) than desktops though.

Ha, I just answered this question in another thread. Here's how to fix it:

Quit the session.

Trash the "Digidesign Databases" folder in ALL of your connected hard drives (whether or not you're using them for the session).

Restart the computer and Pro Tools should now work correctly.

Best of luck!
