Good Recording Software

I am doing a 9-15 track recording on a weekly basis using a laptop with an external PCI-324 MOTU interface. I can't disconnect the 324 until all the tracks are saved. Saving 14 tracks 45 minutes long takes about 15 minutes. Not cool.

Does anyone know of a program that when you record it just saves the files on the hard drive? Adobe Audition saves them on the hard drive, but when you actually "Save" them it recopies them. Any sofware just track directly to wav files and save me time? The lights are getting shut off while I'm trying to pack up.

I hope I understand your concept correct. I would suggest that you check out Samplitude. It is so great you will never look back.

How is your PCI interface external and running on a laptop?

I'm using an old Magma PCMCIA to PCI card box. It lets me use the MOTU 24i and 1224 on the laptop just like it were a desktop. Its supposed to work with both Windows and OSX.

I've found that Cubase SX 3 does what I need to do. It will save the tracks as wav files right off the bat. None of this funny stuff I'm dealing with Audition.

Plus the automation and channel options are much better.
