Pro Tools 8 - backwards compatibility???

So I am wondering if anyone has any experience sharing PT8 sessions with someone using PT7.

I know PT6 could not open PT7 sessions, and it caused headaches for me and people I work with.

I want to upgrade, but I have a couple of projects where that would be a big pain in the arse...

I use LE if that matters.

Hmm....haven't done 8 to 7 yet but I believe you can save a 8 session as 7 so it should give you little problems....

But I've almost never had to deal w/ someone going backwards - just know I've heard of the special "save as (previous version) option" that should hopefully solve your problem otherwise.

I do know that I get a message when opening 7.4 sessions in a 7.3 system about some features not available but have only noticed elastic audio tracks not able to re-create my elastic audio stretch functions - but that makes sense since 7.3 doesn't have "elastic" capabilities.

Try the "save as previous version" option if you have any problems otherwise.

It works. I just opened a PT8 session file that I recorded in another studio on my Version 7.3.

It was just vocals and live overdubs though -- no MIDI, VI, etc.
