Is this laptop good enough for recording

I already have a custom built PC I use for my main recording rig in the studio........but was thinking of buying an inexpensive PC laptop for out of the studio for minor recording projects and also to take on gigs for triggering samples and layering multi audio tracks...........................at Costco for $546 (thiis seems like a screaming deal)........16" HP660t laptop..Intel(R) Pentium (R) dual core mobile,Processor T3400 (2,66 GHZ).........................Intel R Graphic media accellerator............................................................Vista home service pack 1........2 gigs of ram/320 hard drive......................I am using Nuendo 3.2 at the moment and running plugs....................................................I havent had to buy a computer for a couple of years so well I know this one is not cutting edge...for a limited budget would this work fine fine small recording stuff and live gig application and I can then save all my big recording stuff for my main computer in the studio............looking for an inexpensive portable solution.............hoping this might work.....................Thanks for all input and suggestions.

Why gamble? Save a few hundred extra dollars and get a white MacBook. At least then you will know 100% that it will work.

I don't think Nuendo 3 is supported on Vista. I'd alo be concerned about trying to use a laptop's internal HD. Do you have an external (firewire) drive you'll be using? Beyond that, seems fine for a secondary machine.

HI,
N4 works on Vista just fine is 32 bit mode
recording to the OS drive is fine up to about 20 tracks or so 48k

the issue is not the power of the laptop but the chipset for firewire/express card.

if you intend to use a USB deivce it should be fine.
if you intend to do firewire either with onboard firewire or via Express card good luck. most likely will not work below 512 buffer if at all.

using an Express card like RME Express card for multiface 99% chance it wont work.

you get what you pay for!
