Blue screen of death!! My first on G5.

Oh God!! Just 7 minutes ago i was writing on another thread how awesome my G5 is!!!
So i loaded the Logic 7 demo song just to see how much it reads on the activity monitor.
OSX crashed during loading and i got the "restart ur computer" message.
I have been getting these OSX crashes a lot lately and my video card has been showing distortions on the screen.

So i restarted and got the blue screen of death.
Where do i begin ???

I need to write down what version of Logic and OSX i am running........
This sucks.

What should i do ?

Could this be your issue?

Apple - Support - Discussions - LED flashes 3 times ...

I came across this thread and am holding my fingers crossed ever since (I have a dual 2.0 Ghz G5).

ok interesting discovery:

I disconnected all USB devices (Trigger Finger, UC33e, USB HUB, XioSynth) , even unplugged the RME mutiface cable , left the PCI card in.

Turned on and system turned on just fine.
About this mac shows 2.5 GB of memory whereas i have 3.5

Diagnostic says : Power On Self Test
Result : Failed
Failure Type: Memory
Slots : DIMM2/J13 , DIMM3/J14

I'm on MAC OSX10.4.7 and Logic 7.1.0

So, do i just change Ram ?
Do u think its this faulty RAM which was causing OSX to crash in the last few weeks ?

What other precautions would u recommend once i change the faulty ram?

Thanks
F

Looks like the RAM is the source of your problem. Just make sure to be really careful when replacing the RAM (ground yourself before touching the RAM or the MOBO).

First you Mac guys steal our taskbar and rename it and make it work weird and now you're trying to steal our most jealously guarded feature -- The Blue Screen of Death!

Where, oh, where will it end...?

Good luck!

The mantle of the BSOD is gratefully retrieved...

Seriously, though, good luck on your quest...

And remember what we darksiders say:

"Anything that can be f**ked can be unf**ked."

Given time and perseverance... lots of perseverance.
