Pro Tools playback delay

I'm not sure what's causing this one, and I've been fiddling for quite a bit now.

A mysterious time delay has shown up during my playback in pro tools m-powered 7.4. I'll see the marker pass over the kick drum, and then a moment later I'll hear the kick. It's making recording somewhat annoying. Taking the buffer down to 128 doesn't seem to help.... in fact, turning it up to 2048 appears to make an improvement.... which is counter-intuitive.

Anybody have any ideas what's going on?

That sure sounds like plugin latency my friend!

Are you using any high latency plugins on any of your tracks?

Yes! you are most likely using plugins on the kick track that have a high amount of latency. you can suss this out by holding cntrl and clicking on the volume number. it'll switch to DLY 123 etc. which means delay: and the amount of delay that is occuring. if the delay for instance, says 123, just select the kick track, and nudge it backwards 123 samples. This is something that always occurs in protools LE and m-powered DAW's.

The oddball thing, is that there were no plugins at all. I restarted pro tools a couple of times, and it was still playing back weird. Now it seems to be normal again...... I don't know what changed.
