New verb in town

Anyone uses this new verb yet?

Galbanum | products | aether

Some people say it's the best algo plug on the market... But I'm not sure I'm qualified to make good judgement on this and wouldn't want to miss the introduction deal. The full price is too much for me now. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

New verb?

Algo check that out.

I'm really into the etymology of jargon.

Buhdoom that, baby!

Seriously though, folks...

~$350 may be a bit stiff, but looks like it's on sale for ~$150, right now. (I don't know the plug; haven't heard it.) That doesn't seem too high if it's good.

But, you know, people may simply not realize how much painstaking time and effort by highly skilled technicians go into creating a pretty virtual faceplate like that.

Well it ain't pretty that's for sure.

Yea! Why is it that everyone think it's too expensive? It looks to me like they worked really hard and this.

Anyway, let me what you think guys.

P.S. And i hope one does not need an ilock for this thing?

I tried the demo, and the controls don't work in DP 6.01 at all, and the gui is huge! It wouldn't even fit on my macbook screen.

GUI Is way too big, loads of wasted space - bit of a schoolboy error to make a plug in that you have to scroll your screen to see it, unless you have a 20" monitor or bigger.

I agreed about the GUI. Apparently, the developers are working on it.

What about the sound guys? ...Well, i suppose the GUI makes it a bit difficult to try huh? Damn!

BTW folks, for those you didn't know already, there's a new free reverb here called Epic Reverb. It's VST 2 and 3 ready. Sound pretty good to my ears if you ask me.

latest versions / downloads « Variety Of Sound

P.S. Feel free to comment on both reverb.

Downloaded it and demo'd it today. After half an hour of testing and comparing to Breverb I have to say this is a really great reverb, great clear sound and it doesn't suffer from strange metallic high end like Breverb can on percussive stuff. It also is a lot more flexable. I found the tail a lot more smoother the sound fuller and more transparent. The GUI is massive, I have two screens so not such a big deal for me, the lay out is liveable with. This is on my list, it really is good.

Ah that's great to hear, farjedi. I was looking to be reassured and that and other comments else where did it for me. I heard it works really in a mix, that it glues better than most plug. I'm going to pull the trigger on that one.

BTW, i think you might be interested in this. This is from the developers.

The $149.95 pre-release price is still active. While it was originally intended for my previous customers for the private pre-release phase, there is nothing that prevents any of you from ordering now at this price. Everyone here has provided some great feedback here, and so we would be happy to have you participate in the pre-release pricing if you would like. We are at the very tail end of this phase now though.

We are shooting for Jan 15th at this point for the official launch. Pre-release pricing will end at that point. There will be a public intro price period following this, but the price will not be $149. It will be higher. The $149 price was really intended for those early adopters who helped by giving us feedback etc.
So it looks like now is the best time to get it. They say they're working on the GUI. THANK GOD!

Thanks for your help! thumbsup

On a upcoming release of Aether you'll have a choice of gui sizes and color schemes. The intro pricing is still in effect for a bit longer so you can still save quite a bit.

I'm still amazed at the sound of this thing. It's very smooth and has a natural-ness to it. You also have so much control over every aspect of the sound. Since I got it it's been my first choice in reverbs.

I don't know the VSS3 but I'm pretty sure it sounds different.

Tried it and didn't dig it. The sound of the presets was just ok and GUI is too confusing to dial anything in.
This sounds just as good to me, but my preference is plates:(( vacuumsound ))

Same here - exactly. Just bought the reverb, the Imperfect Samples Piano will be next.

This reverb seems to be rather good with large spaces. I'm not sure about small drum spaces. Mind you, I haven't yet had a chance to evaluate it thoroughly.

Thanks much to the OP for the heads up. At this price, it's a steal.

Thanks.

I initially thought it sucked on small spaces, I initially tried it on drums and thought this isn't all that. Everything else impressed me. I have made a really great guitar room that is like a room mic and I think it sounds great. There is no metalicness, just a pretty believable space that adds stereo width and 3dness.
I guess it's a matter of taste but I think this is the best reverb I've had at my disposal. I like vaccum sound ADT btw. It's great for making interesting stereo effects.
Off topic but Imperfect Pianos is really beautiful....

Yes it does produce surprisingly believable space IMO too. And of all the algo reverb I've tried this one sounds the most natural. And that's just what i need right now. I'm pretty exited i found this.

Finally had a look at this. Sweet and hard to resist! They are close to 81 buyers for the group buy. An other steal right there.

P.S. And thanks again to SFTPH for the heads up about the stereo plate. I love it!

Hey good looking!

Do you own it? I'm thinking about getting this one too. The mp3s I've heard on their website sounds very convincing. Man i could really use a Bricasti. Or IR from the unit.

No, I don't own it...yet. I'm going to by plug-in + Bricasti Library.
(Lexicon IRs from Acustica.net are nice enough)
I have tried a demo and in comparation to Altiverb this Reflection LE plug-in sounds much better with the same third part IRs. Problem is that i don't know way!!! I just can't adjust Altiverb to sound that good ...otherwise i would buy just the IRs. Perhaps is something about a stereo processing Don't know....

Dotl, out of interest did you demo Aether or just listen to audio examples. Just to say that in my experience of IR's (not the ones you mentioned, haven't tried it, had a listen tho) Any adjustment to the IR ie: making a long verb shorter results in an unnatural tail that doesn't decay right. I've tried loads of IR's and have never been fully satisfied with that aspect . Is this any different?........

I know what you mean... That is a general problem with a convolution'verbs. I have demoed the Aether and it's better (???) than rest of algoritmic verbs...IMO.
But to my ears YES this one (Reflection LE) sounds better that Altiverb and Bricasti impulses are better than every other that i know (and i have 2 GB big IR library) and it's more natural than Aether.
Now...is it favourable to your mix and music i can't tell. I make/mix heavlly designed electronic music so no problem here...Another thing is that i'm a reverb slut

I'm gona buy Aether too...surely. But not now...

Another sad thing is that Reflection LE sounds better than Altiverb but Altiverb is more versatile (with more features)...

The studio devices guys are working on a cut down version of their convo verb that will ship free of charge with their libraries. I believe they are still looking for beta testers. Might be an occasion to try these impulse. Plus, you're a reverb slut!
