Trying to return V verb pro fx via lightpipe

Trying to return V verb pro via lightpipe
I use cubase sx3 and have an alesis I/o 26 connected with a Behringer
ADA8 via lightpipe
now i am trying to get a v verb pro connected thru cubase via lightpipe
The alesis has 8 ins plus the 8 ins from the behringer 16 total but you can have up to 26 inputs via adat and spdif and 8 outs from the alesis
i have a mono send going in one side of the vverb pro and have configured the out put to be spdif out going into the alesis adat2 in
getting signal to the vverb via analog but nothing coming back optical
i'm pulling my hair out don't know what to do

i have (i do believe ) routed everything properly in cubase
my Alesis has it's own virtual mixer
and although the V verb pro shows signal from "send 3" from the alesis
the vmixer isn,t showing a signal back
how do i get the v verb to act as channels coming back in thru light pipe?
Is spdif and adat different from each other ?
Now my alesis has spdif in and out which look like rca cable connectors whereas the V verb has spdif in and out that are optical style connector.
do they make cbles like that/

Yes, spdif and ADAT are different. There might be something in your Alesis driver to configure one of the lightpipe inputs as SPDIF (RME cards do this) instead of ADAT, but other than that you can either connect it via analogue, or get either an SPDIF to ADAT convertor or an SPDIF RCA to optical convertor.

Bear in mind that if you are using only the output from the V-Verb, then you'll have to slave the Alesis to the Behringer clock. If I was you I'd just connect it via analogue.

V-Verb Pro Digital Routing Question

Hey everyone.

My V-Verb arrived this week. ($40 + shipping which was a no brainer)

I plan on using it digital only. Can I access both engines through digital?

I am going to be going in and out through the digital optical cables. Using my ProFire 2626 as the device and Pro Tools. If I send signal to those inputs in a session, will I be able to send to only 1 engine, or both? So I could have 2 different effects coming back on 2 different Aux tracks.

Any thoughts from people who have this?

Thanks!
rw
