Hi there. So far the reviews have been stellar. We are working out last minute kinks but the beta testing is going very well.

Steven Slate Drums 2.5 will have 40 drumkits... yes 40.. with two different room options per drum and cymbal.. styles include everything from vintage 70s Steely Dan to modern metal..

Here are some demos of 2.5... Official Release date is mid January. Keep in mind that if you order 2.0 which is available now from our website, then 2.5 is FREE.

Cool!!! Can´t wait this upgrade.

Would be also nice to have also more variety of different types of metal kick samples. Doesn´t necessary have to be real miked samples, but maybe that´s not your thing?

all kits sound "good" but im sorry the vintage one does not sound vintage. Can we have some less radio RAWK sounding kits? Listen to Beck Sea Change and try to emualte that loose tuned snare. More variety and i would part with the cash

Hey guys, glad you're excited..

JMWS... Current Metal kicks:
Black Kick (Metallica Black), Panty Kick (Pantera), Kick5, Kick15.. Between those 4 there is a lot that can be done.. try to mix and match.. I actually just did a mix with Kick15/Black Kick/Panty Kick all mixed together.. sounds huge

Rhythmaster.. I assure you that you will not find more variety of drum kits in any other drum software, including all their expansion packs.. We have 40 world class drumkits including vintage kits.. and remember, that RAWK sound is not really the kit, its how its played (ie how hard the snare is being hit etc.).

You mention Beck "Sea Change" which is a great album, you have good taste! So here is my "Dan Kit" programmed with some acoustic guitars, being hit LIGHTLY, with the snare tuned down 1 semitone via our software interface... I think you'll dig it... its really close to the BECK sound..

I'm in on the beta test as well and I can tell you that this is going to be worth the wait. First off, what Steven has done is a **MASSIVE** upgrade to the product; they've basically gone back to square one and re-engineered the entire product. We're talking about thousands and thousands of samples, both old and new.

When all the work is finally done, it's going to be great.

Maybe Ill shoot up to Cleveland to hear them

will this END the reign of BFD, S2.0 etc? Will it be better than OceanWay?

I picked up my 2.5 beta package from Steven and the Yellow Matter guys yesterday. A review:

Simply put, if you own a studio or produce music, you're gonna want SSD 2.5. The new samples are unbelievable sounding and the software interface is very easy to use and eye catching.

I've read a few of Steven's posts and he seems to be enforcing the fact that he has forty drumkits and with good reason. Because it tackles every drum sound you can think of! Really, I just think of a drum sound and I scroll through the SSDs (which takes a while!) and you find it.

The NRG room is a big addition, I think its just a better sounding room then a lot of the other rooms I hear with other drum sample packs. Its got a great 3 dimensional thing going on, its hard to describe.

There are a lot of new kits like the Steely Dan kit which NAILS that sound dead on.. but my favorite new one is called the Slate Custom kit which is a monster rock sounding drumkit. Steven if you read this please post a demo with that kit for all to hear!

To answer your question Shanabit, I really think this new update has put SSD 2.5 in its own league due to the massive number of different well recorded sounds, styles, variety, and playability. I'm still exploring all the new stuff but I'm just happy to know that my productions will certainly never be lacking in the drum department.

Junk

The one thing that really shines about the 2.5 samples is the unmistakable Steven Slate "SNAP" on the snares. Nobody gets a fuller, punchier snare drum than Steven, and this set delivers in spades. Plus, with some of the new features you have a bit more control for 'shaping' the feel of the samples.

Prepare for more punch than Popeye after a spinach fest!

Thanks for the great reviews on the beta stuff gentlemen... We've worked extremely hard on this new software so its good to see the results were worth it.

Liquid, we have some great country pop kits... in fact.. If you watched the Country Music Awards... The song performed by Rodney Atkins had a backing track that used my drum samples in it (mixed by Billy Decker).

We also have a new kit called Nashville Vintage kit which sounds great on country and rock as well. You'll get to hear a snippet of EVERY one of the 40 kits very soon.

My drums can certainly bring the smack but remember if you back down on the playing (whether by keyboard or vdrum etc.) they can be very gentle and light, while still having a nice presence. Again, here is a little light acoustic ditty that I did for my band where the drums are played lightly and relaxed:

www.stevenslatedrums.com/demo4/beckish.mp3

The street price of the Platinum will remain $329, the LE (which is just half as many kits, same software etc..) is $199(edit). It will be available in all the major US retail chains and we have new European, Japanese, Canadian, and South American distributors so you'll be able to get the software easily and quickly.

We'll have a whole new 2.5 website with a virtual drum locker of all the drum pieces, new videos, new vdrum videos, new tutorials, new groove library, new audio demos. Last, for BFD2 users, we will have an official expansion pack that is seperate from our own virtual instrument.

Thanks again guys and happy holidays.

The software is the new SSD 2.5 Virtual Instrument Drum software, seen in the screenshots above. It uses the same midi engine as Oceanway but is highly customized with many unique features to Steven Slate Drums.

Drumagog users will also benefit from the incredble and detailed new snare enhancements and new snare samples, and the NRG ROOM MIC GOGS are SWEET!

That "beckish" demo sounds great, I especially love how natural the hats sound. Our new Administration Manager, Alex, played it on the Vdrums.

Happy Holidays from the Steven Slate elves!

I'm a bit confused about the small price difference between the two. Is it only 30$ less for only half the kits or is it only 30$ more for double as many kits?
