Thread Starter | Presonus FP10- No Software Mixer=More CPU Strain? Hi, I have a question regarding the Presonus FP10. Something I have been wondering about the unit is I noticed this unit doesn't have a software mixer accompanying the device like cuemix for motu, and maudio's software mixer, and the software mixer for other presonus devices like the firestudio line. This device only gives you 1 stereo mix, I'm not sure if this is the reason why there's no software mixer. Anyways, I was wondering the significance of this lack of software mixer. Does it mean the CPU has to do more work in terms of mixing when using the unit? Meaning more latency as well? I really am unsure if that's related or not, it's just that I read this off Motu's site for their firewire devices: "Record, monitor, route and process all of these live inputs using the professional on-board CueMix FX digital mixer – with no latency and no processor strain on your computer." With the FP10 not having a software mixer, does this mean: latency and processor strain on your computer? Basically is the lack of a software mixer with the FP10 make the device fundamentally different in terms of processing/mixing capabilities/power compared to interfaces that have software mixers. Thanks |
